buttock clenchingly embarrassing.

was funny when the fulham fans all cheered like mad though when kev gave the all clear operation anfield exercise.

Its actually Operation Anfield Exercise, they do it about once a season.

However usually you get a 'stand by for Operation Anfield Exercise' but this time they went stright into 'commence Operation Anfield Excercise'.

I didn't know what i was meant to be doing!

I was glad however that none of the away fans decided to do 'hilarious' exercise routines.

Did anyone also notice how no-one clapped after one chorus of YNWA? Well apart form one day tripper from Dubai in the main stand, but don't worry i sorted him out. He won't be coming again!

yeah but can't they do it on loudspeakers in the walkways behind the stands or on walkie talkies or summat.

finnan nearly shat himself.

I think it's a Health &Safety Exec requirement for Sports Grounds - surprised they haven't yet prescribed the maximum volume of the loudspeakers, as a result of all the heart attacks and burst eardrums etc...

Was in Stanley Park with my lad the other Saturday when EFC were playing Bolton, and Operation Goodison Exercise rang out over the tannoy. Had a wry smile to myself, it's not just us with that embarassing sh*t.

Also, didn't realise before, there's a place in the park where you can see into the ground, i saw Bolton take a corner at the Park End.

Useless info time!

I expect one day that kev will then start an aerobics class on the Kop. Kev will dress like this the day that happens...

I noticed that. A lot of people were trying to work out who all the cameras were pointing at in the directors box I reckon.

Or you could actually read through the thread; just a thought like . . .

Doesn't actually say anywhere in the threat explicitly what it is though, does it??

Operation Anfield Exercise is an exercise that has to be conducted at least twice a season. It is part of the Ground Safety Certificate. It is conducted incase we have to evacuate all or part of the stadium. Commence Operation Anfield means we actually open all the gates.

Every ground has to do this to gain the Ground Safety Certificate. And it is not loud it is because everyone in the ground has to hear it and every loud speaker in the ground is used - internally and externally.

Hope that clears all the questions up.

It seems to occur at Anfield quite a number of times in a season..and it happens at Goodison too as '...Goodison excercise'.However I can't recall ever hearing anything similar at any other away ground.

They always announce afterwards that Operation Anfield Exercise has been a total success.

I look forward to the day when the announcement says that it didn't go too well this time .........

Aw,

And there was me thinking that Operation Anfield Exercise was Benitez's cunning ways of saying we're going to score. :(

But seriously, if you look at the gates near to the Kop (both sides) you can see the big doors swing open. Im just waiting for the day when a load of people are on the other side and come running in

No that's Goodison Exorcise... they still have bad memories about Rushie! ;)

Sephton nearly gives me a heart attack every time he booms out some sort of message. I think he should do it just before an opposing player takes a penalty - it could save us a goal.

Yep, we do it about four or five times to keep everyone on their toes. I've never heard it at away grounds, maybe they're not as professional as us ;)

That'll never happen ;)

You mean like when I asked the Kop to sit down just as Lampard took the free-kick in the CL Semi ? ;):mischief:
