Reds to beat United in transfer chase

Liverpool are reportedly set to beat Manchester United to the signature of Hamilton Academicals star Jamie McCarthy.

The 16-year-old is already a first team regular with the Scottish outfit and made his debut at the age of 15.

 

Hamilton recently confirme that a host of Premiership clubs have been sending scouts to watch the player, with Liverpool believed to be favourites to lan the teenager.

Actually IIRC he's declared for Ireland because it was his grandad's dying wish or something.

I was reading about him a couple of weeks back, went on an "Accies" forum and someone on there said there were a couple of "official looking people" (whatever that means) in LFC jackets at the game.

What did they think of him as a player? Probably hard to tell at that level but is he supposedly the real deal or just one who might make it? (Obviously you can never be 100% anyway but generally you know who'll make it and who wont)

Yeah, I saw a lot of that, most of it seemed like bitterness because he'd chosen Ireland over Scotland. I'd say his agent is hyping it up big time though, talk of Barcelona and Depor etc. Any kid playing first team football at 15 must have a bit about him though. Hamilton are doing well too, so it's not like they're struggling for players.
