Bootle Buck Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Has been absolutely s**** for most of this season. He is content to stand 3 yards off his man and has no urgency in getting to the ball first. His brilliant goals every now and again mask the fact that in many games he is fecking useless. He needs to be benched and made to fight for his place. Warnock while not the best LB in the league at least gets stuck in and plays his heart out.

So you said about 800 times last night, just like you did with another 800 things last night and probably the same today. You're mental. Give it a f***ing rest, all our players are scum, the managers a clown bla bla bla we get it.

anfield Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Why don't you just start one thread with all the players names and insert "is s***" next to it.Oh yeah Warnock is less than average. Hope this helps.

Guest Jude Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Neither JAR or Warnock are what one would class as a top notch L/B but give me JAR all the time because not only does he score some goals but he offers the team a lot more than Warnock.
Molby Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 this is what is so infuriating Riise goes through spells where he is superb and then crap - we know his defficiencies but we can't do anything about it at the moment..just don't have the personnel, especially with Aurelio being injured and not yet adapting tell you this much 'though: if we had signed Alvez, by now, Finnan would be making the transition to left back
Guest Finnan3 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Everyone's s*** when we lose. When we win they're the best ever. Look at people here in August "this is the best squad ever" "two players for every position" "how can we not win the league"
windy city red Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 if you have been reading around and see the number of "I've always been saying..", "I've always known..", you would be surprised at the number of seers this forum actually has.

Molby Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 In my case its true, search through my old posts and mine - hardly rocket science was it? I said at the time, my main fear was losing Momo and Stevie didn't factor in Stevie being s***, although that's understandable given his current circumstances
ali Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Riise: We won't give upBy Eivind Haugen & Kent Hedlundh - Created on 14 Nov 2006 John Arne Riise has insisted that Liverpool will not give up on their dream of winning The Premiership this season. Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Arsenal left The Reds 11 points behind champions Chelsea and 14 adrift of leaders Manchester United. Liverpool's abysmal away form has left them with a mountain to climb to get back into the race for the title, and Riise accepts they have let themselves down on the road. "I can not understand why we play so bad away from Anfield, I really can't," the left back told Dagbladet. "Against Arsenal on Sunday, Rafa was calm in the dressing room after the match. he knew we knew that this was not good enough." Riise believes it is too early to write off Liverpool though, pointing to their good run midway through last season as an example of how they could come storming back. "We never give up. Cowards give up," he rallied. "Of course it will be hard to catch up with Manchester United, but at one point last season we were 27 points behind Chelsea, and in May we were only nine points behind." Riise was left to argue with Steven Gerrard about who was at fault for Arsenal's third goal at the weekend, as William Gallas stole in unmarked to head home a corner. However, Riise has played down the incident, and claimed that neither he nor Gerrard was to blame for the goal. He explained: "There was some frustration in the heat of the moment, but some discussion is good. It shows we care. "It was neither mine or Steven's fault that Gallas was unmarked. We saw the episode on TV afterwards, and it was not our responsibility."
Clay Davis Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 can't fault his attitude. i think he's a class act and certainly the best left back at the club.
Rushian Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 best left back at the club, best in the league last season.
muleskinner Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Who the f*** should have been marking Gallas then?
ali Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Who the f*** should have been marking Gallas then? that's what I was hoping someone would notice and give the answer to
Maldini Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Yay, another "he's not good enough for us thread" Just what this place needs.
Bailo Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Have to say I was fuming at him and Gonzalez letting Hleb just waltz past them for their 1st goal. And Zenden for not running with Fabregas. In fact, I was livid with most of them. And who the good f*** WAS meant to marking Gallas? The penalty spot? FWIW, getting Gallas was a masterstroke for Arsenal.
Cam Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 best left back at the club, best in the league last season. One of the best in Europe. He's not been great this season, a couple of glaring errors, but he's been FAR from crap and far from the worst player. He's just been pretty average and unspectacular. I prefer him at leftback and will normally aggressively take on anyone who says he's a midfielder, as I said he's one of the best leftbacks around, but given our needs at the moment even I would consider switching him to left midfield. Pennant, Gonzalez and Zenden are out of the reckoning for me at the moment and Gerrard should ALWAYS be in the centre. So it means (in my little fantasy team) that Garcia (who ought to be playing in EVERY game) is needed on both flanks. Obviously even for a genius like little Luis this is difficult so stick him on the right and Riise on the left. It's really the only way. He'll stay wide, attack, defend, bring balance and score a handful of stunners. It may not be perfect, he won't solve our lack of numbers in the box, but it'll solidify the midfield and bring strength, clean sheets and confidence. With Aurelio or preferably Warnock behind him. It shows we're really missing Traore. Could Agger do a job at fullback behind JAR?
Rimbeux Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 He's been a bit hesitant defensively this season, but his use of the ball has actually improved. He remains a top athlete and competitor, and once this bit is over and the menntal edge returns there wont be any more indecision, say it again, a bit of managing.

For "gets stuck in" read "makes ridicuous challenges guaranteed to get him a yellow card a game"
D.Boon Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 For "gets stuck in" read "makes ridicuous challenges guaranteed to get him a yellow card a game" Dont bring Sissoko into this
Falconhoof Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Warnock's simply not good enough. For "gets stuck in" read "makes ridicuous challenges guaranteed to get him a yellow card a game" He was excellent in his last game against Reading.
Ronnie Whelan Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Someone could be quite brutal here and unmask JAR as Traore with 5+ goals a season. Both have very similar positional sense.
tomasjj Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 (edited) Riise is athletic, never injured, has a great attitude, runs all day, and has a cannon of a shot. But he is our weak link in the back 4. It's not a coincidence that many teams attack down their right side to expose Riise. I guess attacking down this side will also pull Sami out wide to cover, since his lack of pace is one other weak link in our defence, (Finnans lack of height being the third imo.) To avoid being skinned, Riise stands off and allows the wingers to cross. Not good. His tackling is also suspect, so he usually avoids it and tries to lead attackers out wide, which is fine in itself, but if he could tackle properly it would have been better. So, in short, I think he is a decent enough squadie who has an important role to play at LFC, but we could do with a left back who is better defensively (tackling and positioning...) and who has better use of the ball.
