I don't know about you, but if I were to pick before the season started the away fixtures I'd least like Liverpool to start the league with, I would have picked;

1st Away: Sheffield United - Dirty team that will have a fully fit squad, will kick lumps out and give 100%

The next aways I would have picked that I'd least like us to start with would be (In no particular order)

Arsenal Away, Manchester United Away, Chelsea Away, Everton (Local Derby) Away, Bolton (Where we rarely get anything) Away

I just find it a bit odd that pretty much every fixture every Liverpool fan would have not wanted ALL appeared together.

We already know that the people in charge move things around - and we already know in the above fixtures we generally don't get that much (Aways against Everton are a bit of a tossed coin) - just seems strange that we got them ALL

doesn't matter one jot nor does it explain the poverty of our performances in all of those matches.

There wasn't too much wrong with the performance at Stamford Bridge.

apart from not scoring, you're right.

we were utter pants at Sheff U, Everton, Bolton, Man Utd & Arsenal though

its a conspiracy between all facets of the media and every level of the FA to keep liverpool from winning the league.

clearly.

I didnt think the overall team performance against Everton was that bad (might just be my memory though). There were two horrific defensive mistakes and a dodgy refereeing decison that lost the game. Still managed to hit the post twice and cause a few problems. Whereas the games against Sheff Utd, Bolton, Utd and Arsenal were terrible for a number of reasons.

The defence is not up to the job and unable to keep a clean sheet away from home, which seems to be what Rafa bases his gameplan on in these games

And we're not being anywhere near adventrous enough to be able to score in those games. It sounds so bloody obviously it's stupid, but if you don't score you can't win, and at the moment the team's not playing to win in those games, they're playing to not lose

2 things have happened in my view.

1. We aren't looking like scoring. I thought that the team looked scared - they lack commitment when going forward because they don't think they'll score and if we concede you can see the team visibly wilt. There's no hint of belief that we can get back into a game if we go a goal down.

2. We are conceding more goals. Alot more. This means that when we aren't playing well we're f***ed. We can't even grind out a draw or nick a win with a set piece.

agree, and both of these things create a viscious circle. why we aren't making chances or even looking like creating anything is really pissing me off.

I think they're terrified of conceding.

I think they're terrified of conceding.

They must get electro-shock punishments for giving up a clean sheet. Look at the Reading game, down in the corners at 2-0 up in the last minute.

Terrified of conceding possession too. All of the adventure has been lost.

if there was ever a good away game to start with, it would have been sheffield. Newcomers to the league, excellent chance to sh*t all over them and show them how football is played in the premiership.

Symptoms of the same thing I think....

I think that when you get into the cycle you are in you need somebody who isn't constrained that way to do something that drags you out of that mindset.

Garcia in my view is the likely candidate, though obviously he's injured. Gerrard would normally be the obvious one but he's playing really badly, sadly.

Its the best way to learn. f*** passing and moving, electro shocking is the way forward

Utter rubbish.

Not a worse game we could have had outside of the obvious candidates. Shows a complete lack of knowledge of Colin's teams.

1. Sheffield Utd - there will always be positives and negatives to playing a team, you mentioned some - but the positives were that they were not used to playing at Prem standards every week and we are Liverpool !

sorry that was knit picking

2. Of the other 5, then we have a good record at Everton. We were turning against Bolton i.e. 1-0 defeat then 2-2 draw - maybe a win. Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd needed better defending to get 3 draws.

It doesnt really matter what way we wrap it, the defending was f**king s*** for the goals we have conceded this season bar Drogba

Everton - rank

Bolton - Campo - jaysus !

Man Utd, Arsenal - we should have done better.

agree with that, Rory.

Sheff U - should have played our strongest side and beaten them.

i remember when we went newly promoted Crystal Palace on the opening game of the season and put 6 past them.

I don't think the issue is that anybody believes that we shouldn't be fancying our chances of winning that game - its just that if you were looking at a time you were going to play that particular match you wouldn't want it to be then. It was always going to be as tough as that game could be, playing it that day.

well, i'd rather it then than in the last 8 games of the season when they're fighting to avoid relegation
