There has been so much whingeing about this that and t'other over the past 5 years but when I think........

Birmingham - final 2001

Barca Semi - 2001

Alaves - 2001

Arsenal -2001

United - Final 2003

Olympiakos - 2005

Juve - 2005

Cheslea semi - 2005

THAT final

United FA cup - 2006

Cheslea Semi - 2006

WHU Final - 2006

add that to what I saw from 1974 onwards...I am the luckiest b*****d alive

I think that's called perspective, and as modern-day LFC fans, I don't think we're allowed to have any ;)

Been brilliant times. It's just hard to ignore what everyone else is doing and enjoy what you are achieving.

I'm guessing the Russians and their supportes are still bitter about not getting to an EC final, though we'd like to have their league titles... (sorry make that their *recent* league titles!)

a good mate of mine is a villa fan and he's happy on a saturday afternoon if they've even scored.

that's perspective.

It's a good point and whenever we have a bad run my consolation is to draw on the memories of some of the unsurpassed glories I have witnessed.

But as the great Bob Paisley used to say, once a trophy has been won you forget about that and concentrate on the next one. That's what makes us a great club, not just the history of winning cups but the expectation that we carry on doing so - because that's what LFC stands for.

Friends of mine who support other clubs have said that it could only have been Liverpool or ManU who could come back from the dead in cup finals or go on long runs to win a title against the odds - their teams & supporters would be happy to be in the chase and gloriously fail but we set our standards higher because of our past.

Maybe that's why there is so much frustration around the camp now - we have over-achieved in terms of cup success with our squad over the last few years but this was the year when our players looked to be a match for any other team in the premiership yet we have not been at the level we expected and so far have regressed from last year when we had an inferior squad.

I still think this season could be special - but then again, as a Liverpool fan, why should I think any different? :cooler:

I watched the Chavs win the league last season and to me it was an anti-climax to their fans. Now compare that to that Balmy night in Istanbul and they can keep it. I'm sure many lads on here would rather keep the Chelsea CL Semi-Final, the Arsenal FA Cup Final or Alves over winning the league. Since the CL has become such a big competition for me the gloss has gone off winning the league a little. I still think it would be hard to beat the homecoming after Istanbul, No 19 included.

Equally, I work in Bradford. Highlight of their season is not getting relegated :D

i wouldnt swap my greatest memories in turkey for two league titles.

for me, since i was two, my biggest wish was to go to the european cup final and watch us win it. I can honestly say the real life experience was a million times better than anything i ever wished for.

although, now that we have won the cup, if i had a choice this year i would prefer to win the league.

Forest fans I work with are struggling to get excited about their side even tho they look a shoe in for promotion. 2 aways on the trot v Gillingham, one in the Johnstone Paints Trophy seemed to be the final straw for some of them. The club cancelled all supporters buses the other other night due to a lack of interest.

It's all relative.

United won their treble in 99 and we won ours in 2001 but got a lot of stick from random supporters about it being "mickey mouse". In reality, if supporters of any of those teams in the country (bar United and Arsenal at the time), had won any of the 3 trophies or even just qualified for the CL, their season would've gone down in history.
