Personally I think this is the nearest one. Its difficult to beat the drame associated with SG's goal though. A couple of minutes before hand he was cramped to bits yet he pulls this one out of the bag.

That Michael Thomas fella wasnt a bad player in 1992

? :)

Still think Gerrard's was way better but as though he didnt get a mention thought I would link you up to the goal

Not only was Stevies some goal, it was the timing of it. Last minute of the FA cup final, needing to score to force extra time. Players are all knackered including SG, but somehow he pulls that out of the bag. Best i have seen in a cup final.

My choice too, that was the game that actually made me like football and made me a Liverpool supporter. All me mates were Manc supporters, or became Manc supporters after it.

Beaut of a finish from Rushie in that, but the first was no where near SG's goal from last season.

Totally fail to see how that goal is better then Gerrards. Gerrards was further out, at a much more important time and was easily as difficult a strike.

That was a great goal though. Souness was a right miserable f***** wasn't he.

Sentimental value. Ageing fans looking back to the days when they were young and possibly even fit.........

Jimmy Case would have been my choice, too :)

Third goal against Everton in 1986 - great move. Molby's nutmeg, Whelan's pass to Rush, Rush's finish past Mimms..excellent

Steve McKenzie got a great goal for Man City vs Spurs as well

jeez, the man had not long had serious heart surgery, and , should not have even been at the game.

he was under strict orders not to get excited or move around.

his life was at stake if he had jumped around and celebrated.

Gerrards was very Roy of the Rovers style, knackered last minute, but he said himself he was knackered, didn't know if he could hit it hard enough, or, keep it on target.

Case's was technically a beautifully controlled strike, if my ageing memory serves me right....

Can't watch the goal cause I'm in work but wasn't Souness under strict instructions from the quack not to get excited and they didn't even want him to go to the game.

For drama and sheer 'Oh my God!' factor, Gerrard'swins - though I've always loved Case's too.
