What a player he's become. Outstanding performance again on Saturday when he came on.

I was one of those that was baffled when Rafa signed him, as I'm sure many of us were. But boy can the lad play football. Whoever gets the opportunity to play regularly up front with Peter next season will no doubt be chuffed to bits; they'll get bucket loads of goal scoring opportunities.

Is there a better 2nd striker in the game at the moment? Possibly, but he's got to be up there surely.

Great touch, calm head, doesn't rush - an absolute god for all lanky footballers around the world.

Well done Rafa, and well done Peter.

That is all.

Hi Peter, boy, you got back from Germany quick!!

By the way, I agree with you, you were brilliant and England were far more effective with you up front.

By the way, have you binned your girlfriend - to be fair, although we don;t approve, I think we all understand why she took coke... :)

I'm still not convinced by him, I just wish he was a lot stronger in the air. He has become a cult-hero though with us, mainly because he took so long to score a goal and mainly because of the reaction he got from the England fans a few months ago.

You just hate him because he's not Emile

theory - he's weak in the air and doesn't attack the ball because he's always been such a tall c*** throughout his life that he's never had to jump and win the ball.

I don't think it's theory though, I see it with my own eyes week in week out. His timing needs to be better when jumping for a ball.

Thats how I see it. He lets the ball attack him instead of the other way round. Ironically, his best headed efforts are where he stoops for the ball instead of jumps.

he has surprised me to be honest, i wasnt sure when he came, but i think he offers a whole new dimension to our attacking play, and gives us an option that few other teams have. i think he has a magnificant touch, and holds the ball up extremely well

i agree with wayne but add that he blows hot and cold. he had long periods where his touch was poor and his all round play was off. he's still a far better option than emile though.

Funny thing with Peter is that he's underrated by the majority and overrated by the Liverpool fans. In my humble opinion he's a good forward, but not a so-called number one striker for a top club (as he bascially was fo us last season).

His timing is fine - it's just that it takes that fecking long to get the 'jump' command from his brain to his feet !! :bleh:

On a serious note - I think his positional play needs adressing a little. For me - he's never 'coming on' to the ball for a header - he always seems to already be there (where the ball lands) and only needs a standing jump. Maybe he's too keen to get into the box/danger area - and so gets there a fraction early. Maybe if he arrived a fraction later - he'd be able to attack the cross better. I would expect to see an improvement with his heading once we sign these goddam wide men !!!

part of his perceived weakness in the air is down to the amount of fouls given against him.

Defenders back into him, he raises his arms to jumps and the defender gets given the foul for PC leaning in/climbing. As if he needs to. It may be a relative lack of strength, or that defenders have wised up to how to get fouls off him

Graham Taylor was saying that last summer mate.

Great minds, eh? :D

He was coming onto the ball all the time at Southampton when he was banging them in. They were getting behind defences though, something which is harder for us as sides defend deep against us and because we've been short of genuinely dangerous wide players beating defenders in a one-on-one situation.

The only way i can see people not understanding why we bought Crouch, especially at the price, was that they hadn't seen him play many games. Just like Owen Hargreaves being slated when playing for England ( often made a scapegoat when put into a game where England were under pressure and hanging on for the points )

Papers write an article > reader assumes journo knows what he's talking about > opinion formed

Good player, better than Emile.

Feel a bit for him as Owen and Rooney will get away with doing sod all for England while Crouchy will have to score a hat trick every game to get the same plaudits.
