Not sure whether you are defending them or not but it was FSG that put this committee in place and insist upon running the club this way so for me they are as much responsible for pissing the money up the wall as anyone else. They think that they can re-write the book on how to 'do' football. It's that mentality that gave us this committee, Ian Ayre and an inexperienced manager (may have been a decent call if he had some experience around him). It's easy to see why we were choosing between BR and Martinez. Any manager worth his salt at this level would have told them to stick it by now. I quite like BR and whilst Suarez was a key factor in last year's form, he deserves the credit for it. His inability to set up a team to defend will be his undoing but ultimately the major issue is FSG. He won't be replaced by a Benitez, Ancelloti or the like. It'll be Garry Monk, Eddie Howe or some other up and comer who will think all his Christmas' have come at once and accept it.

They are just clueless when it comes to recruitment.

We scraped a win against a league 2 team that deserved a draw at least. They didn't play well, we were just crap again. We couldn't defend against a pub team and our movement and flair was non existent as it has been all season. When Gerrard gets replaced by Delph on a free you can console yourself with this 'it's the taking part that counts' mediocrity that seems to have infiltrated the club from top to bottom. Magic of the cup? No thanks. Play to your level and win the f***ing football match.

I think his pace will be of benefit to us and he does seem to be able to hold onto possession well. Not expecting a great deal in terms of goals but I think he'll contribute more than Mario, Rickie and Fabio.

Maybe he means he wishes he had another 10 years in him so he could continue with Rodgers. Who knows; it isn't what he said though so does come across like he'd have been more successful if Rodgers had have been in charge 10 years ago. I'm not particularly arsed either way, just thought it was a daft comment.

The only reason I could see it is if we're unable to find a striker that fits the profile in terms of playing style and financials. Lallana, Sterling and Coutinho worked well against Swansea so maybe the plan is to have another player like them to drop in to rotate. Markovic can also play in there.

Brendan is a dead man walking. I just fear that it's not the change that's needed. Our recruitment has been criminal.

His legs have gone so he shouldn't be playing from the start like this but he's still the best option we have. He found that bit extra at the end like he usually does but there was very little else. The penalty claim that wasn't a penalty just frustrated me really. Good run from Steve but if we actually had some pace like last season we'd do that more often. A bit more pace on that run and we could have scored or it would have been a penalty. To go from pace and pressing to this shower is just ridiculous.

When we signed Lambert it was obvious what BR was trying to do (give us options in tight games by changing the shape and forcing defences deeper) and it did seem like a good move. After all he had been scoring and setting up goals. Having seen him though, he's just nowhere near the level we need. No pace or mobility but also no real goal threat around the box. I know they lost yesterday but if you look at Drogba yesterday then you can see exactly what we were looking for. He came on and caused a nuisance of himself and got a goal.Signing a player to be a big target man was the right idea but as usual it was our recruitment that has let us down. It's been given more attention than it normally would have been because our number 1 striker is made of glass it would seem and our 2nd and 3rd strikers couldn't score in a brothel. I think we could do with signing a new 1st choice striker, make Sturridge 2nd and replace Lambert with a better option.

Calling Lambert an international striker is a bit desperate when you think about how much international football he's actually played. And at what point do England stop becoming a big side anyway? Big sides win things or at least challenge for honours.
