  1. A 17 year old winger. Just what we need to address the issues in the team.
  2. Although Klopp does mention in that video that Sakho was late to the airport. He does seem to be dicking around a lot. I wonder if Klopp has just had enough of the clown act. Under Rodgers that would probably be Sakho finished but Klopp strikes me as someone who is tough when he needs to be, but prepared to wipe the slate clean after the incident has been dealt with.
  3. Quite a good article here: http://www.isportconnect.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32853:football-transfers-buy-back-clauses-explained-daniel-geey&catid=61:sport-finance&Itemid=177 Seems like there is a contractual obligation to transfer the player. The player has to move so presumably the fact that they agreed to the original deal is enough to satisfy the employee rights argument of being forced to move locations and employer.
  4. Totally agree with you on it being confusing in this case. All I can think is that it's the sign on fees and agent fees that determine that this is the preferred way of doing the deal.
  5. There are 1st refusal clauses but that is just an agreement that the selling club will tell the other club they are willing to sell. No agreed fee. There were rumours years ago that lazio paid 1m to us for 1st refusal on Owen. Not sure if true but probably more of a vanity thing to impress fans than anything meaningful. The highest bidder is getting their offer accepted regardless of a first refusal.
  6. It's just a pre-set fee between the clubs. Presuming the player has improved or the market has risen, other clubs would have to bid more to get an offer accepted. The player can refuse to move same as with any transfer but you would have a situation where club a with the clause has an offer of 10m accepted but clubs b and c had to bid the market price of say 20m to get their offers accepted.
  7. Mane was linked a month before signing. http://m.goal.com/s/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2016/05/26/23963632/liverpool-join-race-for-mane-after-cooling-gotze-interest We do have a lot of dead wood to sell you're right. Once the dead wood is gone though, what real quality do we have left? As has been the case for ages now, we need a few top quality additions to give us a decent squad. We are a team of squad fillers in the main. A couple of players that can be great on their day; but their day doesn't come round all that often.
  8. Watching Germany vs France you can see that Can is going to be a fantastic footballer and I'd argue he's already our best CM. As expected though, he is still making daft mistakes and is inconsistent. I'm amazed we haven't seen any links to any established, top quality midfielders. We were overrun last season on a number of occasions and I don't see that improving without changes. Add that to the fact we don't seem to be addressing the left back issue or adding to our striking options, transfers and links are a bit disappointing really. Still time to go obviously, but what promised to be a good summer of change is feeling a bit flat really. Chelsea will be improved next season, City will be up there. Arsenal always manage top 4 and Utd are going to be challenging. Spurs will do OK with Leicester as an unknown quantity this season. How much magic are we hoping Klopp can bring to the side in order to overcome that group? At least we'll have made a profit though.
  9. Unless we get some real quality in (or the unknown quantities like Grujic and Zielinski turn out to be brilliant) we are going to struggle to get top 4 and we will fall even further behind. We are unrecognisable as a club from the best days under Rafa. We are lacking quality in every area of the squad, seem to have no ambition and/or pulling power in the transfer market and rely on over achieving to get results. I can't help but think the only way we will return to being a top team is if we spend bigger and become bolder. it

    Coutinho

Gotze (basically if nobody else wants him) to replace Coutinho isn't exactly the positive summer we were expecting. I think we're going to see that even with Klopp, money and champions league football is all that matters when it comes to attracting and retaining top players.
  11. 6 months and over require a ticket so you might chance it and get lucky
  12. Wasn't it reported that we'd offered Goetze £175k a week? Hardly frig all. Plus it's the 31st May and we have Karius, Matip and Grujic in already. Supposedly negotiating for Ben Chilwell from Leicester. Whether they are good enough is a different argument entirely but we are doing business. And very early.
  13. Main stand naming rights?
  14. Bottling set of c**** just like the league cup final. Should have had 2 penalties and game over but we have been crap. Not competed at all.
  15. You might want to look up irony ;-)
  16. Haha the irony of your username!!
  17. He was s***. Offers nothing at all. Cuts in and gives it away or gets pushed off it. He really has gone backwards in his development. Used to look like he could push on to be a strong and pacy goal threat.
  18. We haven't tried to win and have given the ball away cheaply too often.
  19. Very true. It still matters though. Just not to us if Villarreal win. ;-)
  20. Shirt colours and dressing room allocation
  21. Firmino is too weak for these games, Phil has been lazy with his touches and passes.
