If Aurelio had Riise's injury record, he'd be regarded as one of our best left backs, I think. He clearly had a lot of talent and his technique was immense, but he spent half his time injured and a quarter of his time getting back to form after injury, so we really didn't see the best of him at all. It's a great shame, because whenever he had a run he was generally excellent.

Coates will do well, but it's doing him no favours getting occasional starts in what are clearly second-string teams. He played very well when he was drafted in against City. I just don't see how we could justify starting him over Skrtel/Agger unless one has a big enough dip in form to justify it.

If you're being offered to Fulham for quick fix Clint Dempsey and then not featuring in the team in the league then you'd imagine you're probably not going to last too long.

Think there needs to be a conversation over Gerrard. He's been very poor so far this season.

He's not a proven goalscorer, but he is at least a "finisher" in the sense that if we'd bought him, you could argue he was bought to put the ball in the net. Buying a finisher with one season of Serie A experience for £10.6M and then playing him on the right wing is strange in the extreme and I can't really explain it.

I'd probably drop Gerrard for Shelvey after that.

Borini might have been a solution if he was played in the middle. At least he is a "finisher", even if he isn't exactly Fowler. I refer to it again, but we're exacerbating our problems by playing Suarez through the middle and Borini out right.

Rodgers' inexperience is definitely a concern.

Rodgers isn't thick. He'd recognise the signing would be highly divisive. f*** knows who we'll go after like, but I just can't see Owen as a viable option given the undoubted ire it would bring.

I'd give Fowler a four month contract before I offered Owen a deal.

I just cannot fathom why we have Borini on the wing. This is a man who isn't that quick, can't dribble that well and can't really cross the ball that well. He's a finisher, yet he's nowhere near the f***ing box. Why?
