But Keane isnt Torres. His strengths arent winning headers off long balls or chasing lost causes majority of the time. He cannot lead the line and i just dont get it why we're playing him in the role that Torres prefers. Torres is quicker, better in the air and has a lot more quality than Keane. Robbie on the other hand is a smart player, who plays well with all kinds of partners and he puts a very good shift in but is never a target man / lone striker. Maybe Rafa doesnt want to change our system just because we have a player out, but apart from that i cannot see any other reason for Keane to play lone striker. Even if he does, why are we playing long balls to him time and again expecting him to make something out of it?

But right back seems to be the only position where a new player might be needed. That need will go away as well, the moment Degen becomes fit. We have enough players in central midfield, upfront and centrehalf. Left back seems to be identified as a potential problem position with no one wanting to trust Dossena but surely Rafa isnt going to play Insua (whose not looked great the few times i saw him play) over an 8 million worth Italian International fullback. And thats why Darby is the only player in reckoing at this point of time, IMO.

If there's anything Darby can do, its defend. If push came to shove, he wont prove to be a liability there as a defender.

I think we could do with a wide player who'll maintain width on the right. Pennant does that, doesnt make us narrow and just because of his position stretches the defense. Unfortunately, he doesnt do anything more and his crossing is erratic at best. A backup wide right player with English experience would be good, like Solano from a few years back. Whose available? Or maybe just Rory Delap.

We've had some fantastic individual goals this season and are still only a quarter way into it. On another note, no wonder goalkeepers prefer to punch it than risk catching it and fumbling; the balls do so much these days.

Apparently, Palyuchenko dedicated his first Spurs goal to Ramos and said that it was for the faith Ramos had in him, when he bought Roman into the club. If thats true, surely could have had a say in the other signings as well?

Not pointed particularly at Howard Webb, but its apparent that the ref's have been told not to allow tackles that look even a bit dodgy. Gerrard got the ball clean yesterday and got booked for going to ground. Remember a couple of incidents in the Wigan game where players from both sides were penalised for 'tackling' even if they got the ball first. Its shameful.
