A fair point well made....and we paid him 40k a week not to learn this...? He is a

Don't know their squad but they do have some interesting players in their squad Chiellini etc.
-
I was thinking the same - Various figures quoted for Alonso, but sounds like Juve want to get 'more value' around 12M Quid for an international player. Espanyol want 19M for a non-international who has had one good year after being loaned out ? Ridiculous.

Not impressed the little I've seen of him. But he does look very gangly and young still.
-
...Is the correct answer. I remember seeing him on the touchline after his first spate of hamstring injuries, took a half to get him ready. Has never been the same player. Put a lid on it for good.

<Yawn> So glad I decided to log in today to see if there is any news. Reminds me how much I hate the transfer window, and we're not even there yet

Funnily enough having just watched Barmby playing for Hull in the Championship playoff I was thinking similar. Although I have thought Milner always a good young player when I've seen him - He's got ability, can beat men, and is a real trier. Would feel happier about signing him than did for Pennant by a wide margin IMHO.

Funnily enough I was thinking exactly the same. I remember when Xabi was the pulse of the team and his passing, both long and short, was amazing. Fortunately I have a good memory - not see that Xabi for a good while.

Missed the last 10 minutes and then extra time - but in what I saw we were toothless. One up top works when you support, not on a heavy surface where it's tough to do that. Torres looked tired, as did Kuyt. Amazed to hear Torres was taken off - surely Kuyt who is slow at the best of times would have been better option? And I agree on Riise - he was all over the place, and shied away like a girl on Drogba's goal. A more solid defender would have thrown himself in front of that. I never felt confident tonight, and the way we started, the formation and the way we played did not help. Very disappointed we could not continue the dream - but to be fair, this year it's been more of dream than reality - we've not exactly been consistently good let alone inspirational. YNWA.

I just hope that IF he plays (and that's a BIG if, as Rafa might want to rely on Arbeloa) that Rafa sits him down and tells him what he needs him to do - along the lines of all the 'details' stories this week. Keep it simple - defend first, and DON'T shoot every time you get the ball trying to make up for your first leg balls up!
-
Interesting...but not sure Agger would be that happy about it. If Aurelio can ever stay well, he's a shoe in + one of Rafa's old boys. Insua looked good at U19 (or was it 18?) Worlds over here in Canada, and did look a big lad. I think once Agger is back, Carra's days are numbered....sadly!

After being gutted at that Muppet Riise, I'm looking at it differently now. If we went there with a 1-0 lead the tendency would be to protect the lead, at least at 1-1 we know what we need to do, which is play to win. Funnily enough, for some strange reason I was never confident today, but I feel more confident for the 2nd leg given the task.

So I was just on a call with a guy who is an Exec at HP who lives in Dallas and has done most of his life - so I took the opportunity to ask him about Hicks (being Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars owner). As usual I'm sure I'll get the usual outcry on here...but I am simply sharing information..... When I told him about the Sky interview - he said it seemed strange, as Hicks normally 'keeps a low profile'. He also said Hicks is purely a commercial guy, and each of his teams is a money machine in terms of the commercial side - shirts etc. He did ask me how on earth these 'big UK teams' ever allow themselves to be bought out by offshore investors like Americans/Russians.....said it does not make sense to them that they would 'sell out' their great local sports teams. After holding my powder the last few days - my take is the whole thing is a mess from the outset, selling to these guys last minute was a mistake (Moores/Parry responsible for that) and the whole thing has gone downhill from there.

Yeah I know it's unlikely, but often a comment made is what players from opposition teams would make it into the other side. Was thinking about it today as the 2nd half wore on so to speak... Arteta stood out for me, and Yobo was solid...that was it for me.

Reina did not have his best game, but hardly at fault for Ronaldo's goal - Alonso just let him run free, and Reina had to come out to try to get it - Ronaldo had the run on him. We lost because of one dumb refereeing decision - which was caused by pressure on the Ref to be stronger this week following the last weeks bad behaviour from players. Game was over with 10 men - although at least we tried briefly, 10 men against United is tough - they have way too much quality. Masch has to learn to control himself, he ran 20 yards to have a go at the ref - just not smart..... Also, I do wonder what Crouch has done to not even get a run out these days.
-
I'll say it again...Masch is a machine.
-
I was just wondering what the AC fans will do for Inter if we close this out (after the Inter fans 3-2 signs when we won the EC)
-
Torres is the new God - he made them all stop and look pedestrian!
-
Babel off? Surely it had to be Kuyt??? He was even looking for it, he's knackered...
-
Is it just me (likely) or does their CB look like Titus Bramble? Admittedly a skilful, quality Titus...
-
I really hate the way the Italian sides dive around like they've been shot, and then surround the ref waving their arms for yellow cards..... Goal now would be nice.........
-
Watching on the 'Calcio' Italian channel here in Canada. Verio excitedo commentators!! They just showed Valentino Rossi chewing his nails like crazy.... Mascherano is a machine....would like to see Gerrard more involved.
