Whitey

Good points - he was doing that when he first came, and I remember the argument about who should take them. I'd prefer Stevie on the edge, or even in the box now and again - it would give us more options.

A Fair point well made. I was taking it as read that we have players with ability, but that they need to all roll their sleeves up and turn the thing round. A bit of extra effort sometimes is the catalyst.

Link Good lad....maybe we should get him on here every time we draw a game, there's a press announcement, or it's the time of the month on here... My point is this is the attitude....get out there and bite their legs off (as we used to say). And leave your handbags at home...

I hope our (Saturday) back 4 are now getting some performance enhancing drugs....could be a long few weeks if they continue like Saturday, and Agger or Skrtel don't make a miracle recovery/acclimatisation.

Much closer to the mark.

Wow...what an unbelievably emotional thread..... IMHO (and after all this whole thread is about that, mostly sensationalist ones) - I think Hicks has addressed a rumour and made a press statement. These guys do not know quite what a bunch of pack rats the British press are - I'm in Canada and see the US Press, and they're not quite so much in the gutter..... It was a time ago, I don't particularly agree with them doing it, but if the information they were given (by Parry etc?) was that Rafa could be tempted by Real, then why not have a conversation? Once again none of us know the real situation.... If you follow the press the last few days - Klinsmann was quoted as saying he did NOT have any offers from UK/Prem League (he followed the party line), but 'a source' from Bayern leaked it. Maybe Hicks needs some better coaching on handling the UK Press is all. I blame his links to the team...good ol' Rick!

Amazing how things change - I remember how just about everyone loved Voronin when he came (remember the European games?). Not seen yesterday's game, but he's not been good for a while in his time on the pitch (which has been limited, and that may not suit him either). I think Rafa sometimes keeps with players to prove a point - right now, Voronin and Kuyt are struggling. So why play them? Just stubborn. Feel sorry for Crouchy, he must have really p*ssed him off to not be playing in front of them right now.

Likely Fernandez - I read somewhere he has a 35M buyout clause. And this for a lad who's not been fitting in too well. The world has gone mad. Fact. And meanwhile on the thread within a thread......

I'm LOVIN' that picture - Keegan was (and still is I guess) my biggest LFC hero!! Anyone know what his involement is? Strange it's not public....

Hahahahhaha

FFS...yet another bandwagon to jump on. I think I'll jump on the next one that's driving over the next cliff.... IMHO....If we're (allegedly) short on cash for players, how would we get (potentially) the most expensive manager on earth?? I hope we win the next 5 games 17-0 to drive a little positivity on this forum

Mascherano is IMHO a great (and young) player, who makes others around him better. I love the energy he has, and determination to protect his team/defence. He also has the engine to do this - Xabi not so much. I think he IS the way forward, if (and it's a BIG IF) Rafa thinks the (alleged) 17M is best spent there. End of. If he is, I think we'll be rid of Momo for sure, and Alonso likely as things have moved on from the team Xabi joined. He was great when he joined, much more attacking, and the best passer we had. Not seen that for some time - so why not cash in?

Not been on the Forum for a while, but felt compelled to answer this one... Sad that it has come to this kind of a thread - especially so soon. Do we really think that any of us have any clue about DIC or any other potential buyers intentions, and that Gillet and Hicks are that bad, just because they did not decide to turn into American pair of Abramovich's - i.e. throw ridiculous sums of money at the problem? And remember what has happened with Chelsea and Mourinho in that scenario. Seems this Forum includes people who seem to jump on any bandwagon that rolls round the corner......especially if we lose or even draw the odd game. Bizarre. I live in Canada, and the general feeling for Gillet (he owns Montreal Canadians) is very good. He's a decent guy, and wants the team to do well, but in the right way, and keep their identity. From what I hear of Hicks, it's not so positive, but maybe he's a good business foil for Gillet. If it were my decision (and thankfully it's not, or any other fans), I'd give them more time.

Was just reading about Sanchez being sacked on the Beeb. Apparently he's the 7th Premiership manager to go this season. Must be some kind of record for this stage of the season..... (also I'm struggling to work out who the 7 are?). Crazy trend

I'd 'love it' to be Mourinho (or Keegan obviously)! If only for the comedy potential of the Special One managing the press over the next few years!! I always check odds for events at 'oddschecker.com' - you can see all the major bookies - and sometimes pick up some good odds. From http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/next-england-manager looks like it'll be Capello or Mourinho. Check the full list out there anyway - some very very funny people being given odds....Strachan, Hoddle, Moyes, Beckham etc etc etc.

Has Momo been out on a late one? He's playing like a sunday morning player who's not slept....some embarassing comedy moments!

Agreed. Thought I remembered Elisha saying at one point we were negotiating for Chiellini? Guessing prices rose... As for Kompany, " I would love it"...quality player, and strange he went to Germany when he did, but there have been a few of those since then! Maybe Germany is the new Italy )

Dunno about you (and TBH don't care really ) but the signing of Babel really excites me, more than Torres, more than Kuyt, and more than any I can remember (I know you pedants will remind of a few). He's a really exciting prospect, who at 20 is already performing at the top level, has top ex-players like Van Basten saying he's the new Henry (so why go for the old one ). I think he's gonna cause mayhem in the premiership!!!

I've noticed that we have a little trend occurring with the types of players we have signed and have got... A fair few are leaders or captains in their own right, and I have to say I like the thought of that in our team. Stevie has led England, and is Captain Carra vice captain, but leads by example Dirk Kuyt captained Feyenoord Torres captained Atletico (at 22!!) Yossi - Captain of Israel. Hyypia - Captain of Finland (not sure on this one?) Obviously not all your team can be leaders, but I like the thought that we have players available to step up in many positions.

Speaking of which, the Beeb says "Or he could go on the same arrangement his colleague Javier Mascherano went to Liverpool under when he left West Ham. That was a two-year deal and a sort of extended loan for a much lower fee." Does anyone ACTUALLY KNOW if we own Masch or not or if he's on a 2 year "sort of" loan - I thought the whole premise of the transfer issues with West Ham was that 3rd party ownership was outlawed??? Confused...and concerned.....

16M when Utd have just paid 21M for Nani, 18 (?)M for Anderson and 18M for Carrick last year - and with 17M quoted for Bent and 25M (Euros?) for Torres......has got to be a steal. Not surprised he's gone (had to be to Barca, Real or AC despite the ridiculous rumours he was coming to us) and will always remember seeing him skin Carra, then stop the ball and do it again. Scary player, and Prem will miss him.

Simply put....I'd be suicidal. ...and change my lifelong allegiance to Toronto FC..... Yeah I know...same thing really!!
