  1. I wonder if klopp literally trying to clone van dijk with the signing on Konate. It's like the laptop boffins were given a mission of finding someone that's 6'4, quick as f***, strong as f***, and half decent on the ball. Klopp will simply work with him to make him van dijk 2.0
  2. here here, that must be heartbreaking to say the least. I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy.
  3. Klopp does like him, i doubt he'll get rid of him.
  4. Perhaps, but don't we have a really good working relationship with salzburg, not just the minamino connection, but didn't we consult them on our new training ground, or something to that effect
  5. Some twatter chat on a Croatian kid from salzburg called luka sucic. Can't say I've ever heard or seen him play to be honest
  6. a few, Tcuohmani or whatever his name is from Monaco, rumours its been agreed since christmas. Nkunku, Tielemans, Bowen, Some other young lad from RB Salzburg, Jude Bellingham, and quite a few from the Portuguese league,
  7. id beg to differ. most kids that has played football/soccer over here have tried their hand at Gaelic at some stage, and lets be honest, they teach the kids how to catch footballs from a very young age in the GAA, i see it with my own 6 year old child. there's gaa camps a pkenty around, but f*** all soccer until 8
  8. He broke into the league of ireland team, shamrock rovers when he was only 16, keeping out ex northern Irish international Alan mannus in the process. In fairness to mannus, even he admitted he'd never seen a 16 year old goalkeeper as good in his life. We're blessed with Good keepers in Ireland, I'd imagine it's the gaelic background.
  9. I heard he was on closer to 300k. Aren't all the utd players on extortionate wages
  10. id have Rashford in a heartbeat. but not at half the wages he's on at Utd. Klopp would turn him into a superstar
  11. I think it's his work ethic I love most. It's rear you get players to work like he does. In fairness, I don't think you could ever say any of our players lack effort.
  12. if true, then im with you. but lets not forget we have no true idea how well, or unwell these negotiations are going at the minute. For all we know the club offered him X amount on Friday, and today he's probably talking to his wife and family, we really dont know. plus factor in the human level, his children may be unhappy in school, his wife not overly happy living in the UK, or on the flipside, everything is rosey and his wife doesnt fancy moving, there's so many things we dont know that could be going on in the background. so for the time being, lets leave the negotiations where they belong, behind closed doors with the suits, and we can just enjoy the football
  13. I just read someone else's post here or twitter... Pretty much there's only 4 or 5 clubs in world football that can afford bigger wages than us, two at Spanish clubs which are in serious debt, the others are owned by oligarchs or oil states. If that's what you need to afford salah, then I'm ok letting him go.
  14. That's unfortunate for sanchez, he did get the ball first to be fair
  15. i missed the first half, but while driving i was listening to the game on Irish radio. its funny, they made out like that challenge was a blatant dive and in no way a foul. Its as obvious as the nose on the end of your face. I do often think alot of the real "marquee" players get pissed off with the treatment by officials, opposing fans and media in England and thats one of the reasons they end up f***ing off to Spain. Because lets be honest here, if Salah was in Spainhe'd have won the Ballon d'or by now, and he wounded be accused as being a diver, which he is labelled as over in the UK
  16. Just glancing at their game with napoli while minding they kids. Are they really playing 3 centre halves and using perisic as a wing back? If so, that's kamikaze s*** against us. We'll absolutely tear them apart if thats their normal set up. OK, they pack the midfield, but it's not all that.
  17. i fully expect us to obliterate them over the 2 legs. but no denying they're a decent outfit. they're also not use to losing so thats always a danger as well. they do have a tough game today though. Napoli are no slouches, which could well play into our hands, recovery wise
  18. i had change from a bag of chips earlier and was tempted to put a bet on the bookies for us to win 4-0, i bloody should have, that line up is scary!!!
  19. I think he's clearly a decent manager, but is he similar to Mourinho in that he gets a reaction fairly quick, the players buy into him. But after hearing the same drivel and bulls*** for 2 years they just stop listening? I could be wrong mind, but it does kind of seem like that
  20. Babb never lived up the heights expected of him. But im just shocked we paid so much for a centre half that didn't even have an international cap to his name. I was at a game in landsdowne years ago, and babb was embarrassingly poor. I'll never forget the bunch of fans around us actually laughing at how s*** he was. Granted, it was near tug end of his career. But he was atrocious
  21. I was only about 12/13 when we signed scales and Phil babb. Being Irish, I remember babb had an excellent 94 world cup, and everyone thought he was the new Paul mcgrath, so the fee was some what justified. But John scales was a British transfer record as well? f*** me, did he ever even get an England cap?? Talk about wasting money, crazy
  22. its a big country you know
  23. ffs, spanish and portugese is pretty the same thing, he'll be grand. nothing a finger point and arm wave wont sort out
