He got taken out halfway through the season and broke his ankle.. He's been fit for the rest of the season apart from that spell.

I agree only now are we seeing a heir to his mantle as a player.. He was unbelieveable. A total terminator. I'd loved to see him against Keane or Vinny Jones. He'd have buried them.. Thing is though if McMahon, Rush, Whelan, Molby, Wright, Molby and Barnes not got badly injured for most of his early tenure the young lads wouldn't have mad it in. Binning Beardsley, Hysen, Ablett and Gillespie didn't help either.

I did say 2 1/2 years later.. Did think it was 3-ish years.. Gotta wonder why all Souey's teams are injury prone and badly coached eh?

Looked at that today and it is amazing to think that the majority of their side went on to win the league two 1/2 years later. We were absolutely streets ahead of them. The damning site of the Souness years wrecked that team and our aura of invincibility.

Salgado - Nope, in a laughable attept of a defence Cafu - Been a bit injury prone Sagnol - Nope, best years behind him Nevile - Eboue - embryonic in his career Trabelesi - Mind on a move Gallas - A centre-back Ferreira - Inconsistent Oleguer - Offensively not so good Zebina - see Neville Belletti - Gets caught out. Zanetti - Been good yes but his defence is like Salgado's at times. Best in Europe is best in World.. No?? Unless you know someone in the J-League or Darkest Peru who is having a better season?

No worries. I've always thought Zanetti was class but a little defensively lacking. He's actually better as a right-sided midfielder.
