  1. And gives us all free holidays to Dubai, to see what the fuss is about. The million pounds can be spent on discounted supermarket ale
  2. Exactly. For his experience, age and ability there are few better in Europe. Cech is a better keeper, but not infallible. Cassilas is fantastic, but both these players would cost a fortune. However, I do believe that Carson is a good goalkeeper and the experience with Charlton is invaluable. Naturally he will make mistakes, but he has saved Charlton from a few hidings this year. There defence is utter s****.

  4. Nope. Gary Neville, Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho are far bigger c**** then him.

  7. Definitely away first, because we topped our group. Lille will be playing at Lens ground. Not sure, about date confirmation.
  8. I forgot you were going tonight. Beers on you then?
  9. The last 2 Charlton games were midweek, so pretty much all the pubs were rammed. Gonna get there when it opens and get on it then.
  10. I'll be there. Which pub we meeting at?

  13. Was that at Charlton? I remember him getting loads of s**** from a bloke standing in the row in front of me. Everytime he went to take a goal kick, this guy was ranting and ranting at him. In the end, Kiely ended up laughing at the abuse.
  14. I was watching Revista de La Liga on Sky last night, and Balague was saying that Barcelona are looking at Daniel Carvalho as a long term replacement for Deco, who is 30 and who's form has dipped this season.
  15. Is right. I can understand the purchase of Lucas Neill, as it would be a value deal for a player who can cover a multitude of positions, but I cannot see why they would move Finnan to right wing, as he is not pacy or skilful enough for that position.
  16. In 2001, I once read that only Owen was quicker than Gerrard in all the sprint tests that Liverpool undertook. He is very quick and I cannot remember seeing him outpaced by another player. Back on topic, I think we need to supplement the squad with strong, pacy, dynamic players. Alves certainly fits the bill and can play in two positions, which is perfect. Its very important that we dont make wholesale changes either. We are in a position that we have a decent balance within the squad and at most we would need 4 quality signings to improve on what we have. I believe that this would include Alves (who can cover both right back and right wing - replace Pennant), a young, strong centre half to replace Hyypia, a left winger to replace Kewell (to unreliable due to injuries) and another striker (to replace Bellamy - who I dont believe is clinical enough to be a top drawer striker)

  18. They lost 1-0 to Wolves and 2-1 to Norwich. Chelsea to win, Utd second and us third. Arsenal 4th.
  19. I thought you were disappointed that noone replied to your first comment.
  20. No. He would have bought Momo and then spent the rest of the money on Alves and Torres.
  21. Why are you replying to your own comment?
  22. Sinnots. Terri if you do watch the game in town, its a good place to go. I watched a couple of Liverpool games there when I was working in Dublin last year. There are loads of shops around there too.

  24. I cant understand, from any footballing perspective, why we would want/need him. Beckham used to be among the finest at set piece delivery, crossing and had a high energy game. He has now lost that energy and shows no desire to play on the right side of midfield, which is the only place he may get a game for us. I watch a lot of Spanish football, and there is no denying that Madrid play better without him. He has a genuine lack of pace and seems reluctant to cross the ball at the earliest opportunity. His ability is in decline and we have bought enough has-beens in the past, even without the inevitable media circus that would follow. Not for me, and I doubt that Rafa would entertain the circus, considering his emphasis on team.
