In 2001, I once read that only Owen was quicker than Gerrard in all the sprint tests that Liverpool undertook. He is very quick and I cannot remember seeing him outpaced by another player. Back on topic, I think we need to supplement the squad with strong, pacy, dynamic players. Alves certainly fits the bill and can play in two positions, which is perfect. Its very important that we dont make wholesale changes either. We are in a position that we have a decent balance within the squad and at most we would need 4 quality signings to improve on what we have. I believe that this would include Alves (who can cover both right back and right wing - replace Pennant), a young, strong centre half to replace Hyypia, a left winger to replace Kewell (to unreliable due to injuries) and another striker (to replace Bellamy - who I dont believe is clinical enough to be a top drawer striker)
