  1. It’s a bit mad really. After a bright start he didn’t look particularly great last season. The same could be said of Szoboszlai. Having a bit more control of games is allowing them to show what they are capable. Neither were on the list of successes with Mac Allister last year.
  2. Is he closer to Torres/Salah/Fowler/Owen or to Benteke/Carroll/Cisse in ability and impact? You may argue he’s somewhere between the two but he’s looking down rather than up.
  3. Not just because of what Ian Graham said about it but there needs to be pushback against a manager, any manager, who wants to bring a player in largely based on them giving us a difficult time. I was at that game and he frightened us to death but was he ever a fit? It doesn’t seem so. Nunez has all the deficiencies many people were warning us about before he walked through the door. And his scoring record in his final season was a ridiculous, unsustainable xg over performance that was set to drop off in Portugal let alone here. As a goalscorer he will be remembered here as closer to Carroll/Benteke/Cisse/Diouf than one of our elites. He is woeful and Slot looks like he’s having none of it.
  4. Alex Teixeira. Was gutted at the time.
  5. We competed with City and won the big prizes with the best manager we could possibly have had. We ended up with four players who City couldn’t match in Alisson, Van Dijk, Salah and Trent in those positions. There were excellent players around them but quality like those four, each offering something that very few could match, isn’t going to be replaced at the same level. I don’t know how anyone can have any expectation of us identifying that kind of talent and paying the money required. Each s***e transfer window makes it more difficult.
  6. Perhaps s***e was harsh. I just don’t expect him to be the player he once was, adapt to the league or steer clear of injuries in a more physical league. It isn’t his fault he’s landed in the s***test transfer window possible to be fair. If he was window dressing amongst a few belters then fair enough but there are a couple of sizeable holes in the window itself. There is a reason he is here and it is not entirely down to having a year left on his Juve deal. It says as much about FSG as it does him. When all is said and done i don’t think he will be regardless as a success. I will be delighted if he proves otherwise.
  7. I expect him to be s*** but hoping he isn’t. However, nothing is more FSG that a speculative punt on a crock to save them spending on a proper Salah replacement next summer.
  8. Surely when we chose Slot he would have told them he wanted a 6 who is comfortable in possession. Why weren’t we looking at Neves who went to PSG a few weeks back for £60m? Still 19 too. Everyone including Jota and that Man City rat absolutely rave about him. Probably some d****ead in data analysis who couldn’t cobble together enough info on what toothpaste he uses.
  9. This is why I keep calling the Samaritans.
  10. So there is a way that the transfer window can be saved.
  11. Dear me. Now i am hoping Hughes is actually so s*** he can’t even get Chiesa over the line. Why are we even entertaining signing an injury prone lad the wrong side of 25, from a slow as s*** league where the natives don’t tend to travel too well and whose own fans don’t even seem to rate him. Here is a thought. Identify world class or soon to be world class players and go all out for them rather scrap around for bargains in a blind panic.
  12. When it comes to Nike, the third kits are basically made from whatever left over material the curtain shop over the road had.
  13. Chiesa? Everything about this seems like a terrible idea.
  14. He’s beyond help. Don’t reckon Slot fancies him at all. The only thing that’ll help him stay beyond next summer will be a combination of wages others won’t pay and/or Salah leaving.
  15. If he really succeeds here it’ll be a miraculous feat. No signings first summer and looking like losing his best players a year later. He will be doing well if we are even in the Champions League going into 26/27 never mind winning anything.
  16. I don’t think I have ever had such a lack of faith on the transfer side of things as I do now now. Just how have we managed to make the new manager’s job so needlessly difficult? It is beyond ridiculous. We have simultaneously lost the pull of Klopp who probably nudged deals over the line, refuse to overspend but leave it so late in the window we would likely now have to, have an absolutely spectacular recent record of players turning us down and have Hughes running things who no-one knows to be any good. What a perfect storm of incompetence.
  17. Tonight is the night that two become one.
  18. Slot is just a coach working with what he’s given. He’s sat patiently next to his office dumb waiter, hoping to have a midfielder drop down from the powers that be. Meanwhile Richy Rich is pushing youth team prospects onto the outbound paternoster to JLA, Liverworld knapsacks over their shoulders, whilst they cry for Klopp and/or their mothers.
  19. I wouldn’t swap FSG for some oil state but they make it hard at times. There is a strong argument that we won less than half of what we should have in the Klopp years. City cheating aside we lost out on titles and cups by the narrowest of margins. The refusal to sign centre backs when needed most and not buying a fourth quality forward to ease the burden on Salah, Mane and Firmino are chief among their failures. What could have been. Slot may be a good coach but i don’t see him working any Klopp type miracles. It looks very much like we’ll disappear into the middle of the pack, closer to those behind us than ahead of us. Who would confidently say otherwise? We did what we did because we had some absolute game changers. The best keeper in the world, one of the best centre backs ever, the best goalscoring wide forward in Europe and a right back pinging the ball about like a world class midfielder. There is a very good chance they’ll be all gone on free f***ing transfers over the next 1-2 years and this lot haven’t a hope of bringing in adequate replacements.
  20. Well well well. Well well weller.
  21. The only good player we signed last summer was Mac Allister who we then played out of position half the time. Gravenberch and Szoboszlai were s*** and Endo a merely passable squad player. And that is putting aside the Trent ‘experiment’. Our midfield is hideous as it is.
  22. Mate, if you got the all clear from cancer James Pearce would be in your ear telling you the good news was ‘wide of the mark’. Seeking any kind of positive reassurance from that cabbage is futile.
  23. We’ve been made to look incredibly amateur in the transfer market these past 12 months. Why couldn’t Nunez have been the one to decide he couldn’t do without the Iberian scran. I reckon at least two of Salah, Van Dijk and Trent leave on a free next summer too. What a time to be alive!
  24. Which Roman emperor is that?
