Not saying he should be sold but despite his youthful apperance he is pushing 30. A £5m+ transfer in the summer providing we buy someone shouldn't be dismissed.
Almost certain that Carlsberg won't renew. Bacically last summer we had left it too late and thus were left with no option but to renew with them. We signed a 2 year extension (very short for this sort of thing) and rumoured to be less than the £5m a year they were paying previously. I've heard that we are now looking for a joint shirt-stadium sponsor for 2007 onwards.
While we have 2 domestic cups it will only bring the pair of them down. Scrap the league cup and it would revive the FA Cup without a doubt. With all the matches played at the moment there is just no need for 2 domestic cups. Once the league cup is scrapped they need to give the 4th CL spot to the winners of the FA Cup. Furthermore the FA need to give back some of the millions they earn from sponsorship and the like back to the clubs. £30m if you win the CL. £10m if you win the PL. £1.25m if you win the FA Cup (including what you pick up through each round) and nothing if you win the League Cup.
Surely if a move is finally agreed they would not allow him to play another game and run the risk of an injury. That has always been the case. That is the reason i doubt these latest reports.
2 players is not as enticing as straight cash would be. Particularly if their not the type of players the manager wants. £10-12m and a make weight like Josemi would do it. I would certinley rather we got Joaquin to Simao.
It was a slow start this season but that's certainly changed. The whole league has been much more exciting. Perhaps because Chelsea had "won" the league by the end of September but since then haven't been able to improve on their 9 point gap.
My bad then. With Kewell, Riise, Zenden and hopefully Gonzalez i guess we wouldn't need him although i would love it if we could have him anyway. Pure class and would be cheap. Back on topic, Bolanos would be the next best thing!
I would prefer that Brazilian right winger who we faced in the European Super Cup Final in Monaco. Daniel Carvalho. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Carvalho But this Saprissa lad impressed me. Would be a steal for 500k.
I completely agree with you're entire post and as I said I consider him a legend and always will. I'm just stating that at the same time I don't think any of us owe him anything and although the booing was harsh it was justifiable. This was his first visit and over time wounds will heal and we'll remember him as he should be remembered but yesterday was a chance for us to let him know how we felt about his antics. f***ing us around on his contract and then snubbing us to go to Newcastle. Next time he visits I hope that will be put behind us but as I say yesterday was a chance for us to vent that frustration and I completely agree with anyone at the game who booed Michael. Posts merged: There is a difference in good natured chanting and "booing" considering his recent actions and someone who mocks the death of people. Besides i have no idea what you mean about the "Munich 58 shirt". Can't say i've ever seen him at Anfield. Posts merged: Like i said, change one thing in history and everything else around you changes. There is no denying of his talent and "cream always rises to the top" but who knows what would have happened at another club. None of us will ever know but how many of those "wonder kids" fell off the rafter and ended up washed up? A favourite topic on here is Cherno Samba.
