  1. Fascinating. Though why they are using head to head vs GD is beyond me. It's almost like Spring 2005 when some of us wanted us to finish 5th and win the CL because at the time there was a possibility of Everton qualifying for the CL but getting knocked out.
  2. LOL This thread his hilarious. Great way to start the morning.
  3. Yes it would. ONLY way we can go through is to win regardless of the other result. Gutted goal difference doesn't count.
  4. Rafa coy on exit rumours Benitez refuses to be drawn on Liverpool future http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11669_2924791,00.html Rafa Benitez has delivered another guarded press conference ahead of Liverpool's crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Porto on Wednesday. The Spanish tactician has been caught in a media storm over the past week following a spat with the club's owners over transfer policy at Anfield. It has been reported that Benitez is working on borrowed time at Liverpool after he voiced his misgivings concerning owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett's unwillingness to sanction transfer activity before they arrive on Merseyside for the clash with Manchester United on 16th December. Unsurprisingly, it was the face-off between Benitez and his paymasters that occupied the thoughts of the media present, but he is remaining steadfastly tight-lipped over his future. Tight-lipped "Before you start asking, for all the media here as Liverpool football club's manager, I know this is the most important thing for the club," he told Sky Sports News. "I will talk of Porto. "I am sure that we will win and I am sure that we will play well so I am always thinking of winning the next game. And then I will think to win against Bolton. "No distractions. We are thinking of Porto and nothing else. "You can ask but I will talk only of Porto," he answered, when quizzed on whether he had met with chief executive Rick Parry. "We will be thinking about Porto. We were talking because we talk a lot of the time but we were talking about Porto. The game."
  5. Fair enough but O'Neil said last week no deal had been agreed.
  6. Just a guess. A wild one but plausible.
  7. Does anyone think the Scott Carson blunder last week bought this situation to a head? Some articles are stating that Rafa wanted to finance deals by selling Carson and Crouch. Carson makes one of the most memorable gaffs in recent history in a huge game that will plague him for the rest of his carear and no doubt severely drop his value. Next day Rafa goes crazy, probably "told you so" to G&H after wanting to agree a deal with Villa only to be told wait until we come over.
  8. Guess? You would put your house on a GUESS?? My guess is you live in a cardboard box.
  9. Reminds me of when he was going on about Kraft on KT a few years back and in the past couple of years details on the stadium, sponsorship, players, etc that all turned out to be BS.
  10. Rubbish.
  11. That's a great question and maybe one of the American board members here can answer better. What i do know is how much they spent and combined it's more than LFC. Hicks Dallas Stars $82m (1995) Texas Rangers $250m (1998) Gillet Montreal Canadiens $185m (2000) Both Liverpool $432.9m (2007)
  12. I was hoping that G&H would have sold their other 3 sports clubs by now. I still find it hard to believe that between them they own 4 clubs, each with it's own needs and problems. I don't know much about the clubs but surely if they have to put money into one then it means another missing out.
  13. You are right. The structure of my post was wrong. Good news that Rafa has pulled out an olive branch. One party had to back down and it was never going to be G+H. The second part of my post is as you say how important the next two CL games are.
  14. Good news. The 2 CL games are probably the most important of his Liverpool career now, even more so than the CL finals. Win those, G+H will be happy, club will have more money and Rafa will get what he wants. There would probably be a good atmosphere around the club when they come next month. The urgency on Kaladze is strange though. I thjought he signed a new contract till 2010.
  15. What makes you think that? He won't walk because he would lose the huge payoff on the remainder of his contract. They won't sack him right now after 3 or 4 great results and with a run of important games coming up. Stalemate.
  16. England job might even interest a half decent manager now.
  17. I agree but he did do it at Valencia.
  18. Sadly i don't think Hicks is a Vulcan Oh how i recall those KT days of dreaming up new owners and now i realise you don't know what you got till it's gone! Bring back Dave Moores!!
  19. Sorry you have the numbers wrong. Our run in the CL last season was closer to £30m and if we get through the group stages it's all about speculating. It could be 2 more games, it could be 7. The idea is to back the manager to ensure it's 7 rather than 2.
  20. This situation has to sort itself out and sooner rather than later. Bridges need to be rebuilt. I hear Rafa and Rick no longer have a great relationship. I think Dave Moores as President needs to step in. There is a mutual respect between him and Rafa and i believe he has the ear of G&H if what they said when they came in was true.
  21. If i wasn't a red i would want Rafa.

  23. Brian Barwick will ask him to stay on till the 2010 world cup, renew his contract and double his wages.
  24. Bunch of bloody jokers, the lot of them. Sack the manager, sack the players, sack the groundsman and sack Brian Barwick who appointed that clown.
