  7. I read somewhere in one of the many articles today (possibly times or echo) that the problem in not refinancing is that there is a punitive interest penalty which will cost them (ie us) £30m. Putting it in terms of a mortgage they borrowed at a fixed rate for 12months, then must move onto some sort of higher rate when that expires - hence the desire to remortgage. I don't think it is as simple as they miss the deadline, RBS repossess unfortunately
  8. and yossi - what's he done apart from give the ball away constantly. Oh right, a goal you say. Set up by Kuyt. Oh
  9. Agreed. He looks a good player in a fairly average league, but I don't see a GREAT player which is what we need in the attacking positions. He is young enough to improve still, but for example is not even on a par with Messi/Ronaldo when they first broke through at 17, nevermind how good they are now
  10. At a guess it is also because it was the high point of the regime - 5-0 against the Mancs with a centre back scoring a very good goal. After all they didn't actually win anything, so they can't show trophies being lifted!
  11. And from the look of it he and Agger can compare tattoos, good for your centrebacks to have something in common (plus Carra has his Everton one under his long sleeves...) And someone got there first
  12. Completely agree with you on the logic, I just don't remember hearing a blanket ban referred to anywhere in the same way as with the league. Probably just due to the reduced likelihood of it happening it doesn't get mentioned
  13. Which is why my money is on the Milan job! There are two reasons Juve are up there - the rest of the league is currently pretty poor and if I recall correctly they aren't in Europe which has got to help them keep fresh for the league - especially with the weaker squad you acknowledge
  14. I think it depends on the terms of our loan agreement with them. I don't think there is the same blanket ban as there is with premier league loans.
  15. Not a bad shout especially with a nearly man currently in charge - rebuilding a "fallen giant" would appeal to his ego as well. I think it will take a couple of years for Juve to get back on their feet properly to challenge for the title though, hence the other two.
  16. Again, I agree - we need to be looking to make the sort of money that Utd make when they sell their players who have come through the ranks (eg Richardson!) which will help finance players for the first team. I think some of the young players we have now look as though they will make it at a decent level in the game, which hasn't always bwwn the case in the past. Plan A is obviously that they are good enough to make it with us, but Plan B of making decent money on them is a good fall back.
  17. Milan or Inter (more likely the former)
  18. I agree with most of your post, but just wanted to pick up on this. I think the kids signed in the last 12 months (Pacheo, Bruna, Nemeth, Dalla Valle etc) look to have much more potential than those Rafa brought in initially (El Zhar, Roque etc) and therefore they are more likely to be given a chance, albeit that they are still very young and we won't see them yet. The other point is that a large number of the initial kids were defenders who always take longer to mature and that may also play a part in their lack of appearances.
  19. b******s. we just haven't taken our chances AGAIN
  20. How many fingers do we think Kirkland broke saving it? I'm going for 2
  21. I think Mascherano allows us to play a more attacking style. Whilst he isn't necessarily going to dribble around 3 players, put it in the top corner or play pinpoint 60 yard passes I think by having him in there you can play 3 much more attacking players alongside him because of the covering and intelligence he provides - much like the role he plays for Argentina which allows them to play the likes of Messi, Tevez, Riquelme and the rest with fairly free roles
  22. AND they lack creativity
  23. No-one has mentioned our very first Bosman signing - Bjorn Tore Kvarme. What a player
  24. What? Ever considered you might be wrong? Watching the replays I did not see the ball deviate at all. Watch the first one again where Torres cuts across the front of the area. The ball does not change direction or deviate at all and Sonko trips him. I think the yellow and purple ball is horrible but you can see how it is rolling and therefore you can see it does not move. Ref is looking straight at it. Sissoko one, didn't see a replay but could easily have been shoulder to shoulder and therefore not a pen. Plus ref is 50 yards away Torres in second half. Again didn't see the ball deviate, but the angle the ref and linesman are at might have meant they didn't see it. Crouch tugged back going for Carra's cross. Don't think it altered Crouch's run but technically a foul although rarely given. linesman's view blocked by the full back Hobbs at the end tugged in the area. Again rarely given but they are from time to time. linesman has a clear view across at it
  25. We're having fun on this one! About 3/4s are saying it was a pen, 1/4 not. I'm with the majority!
