It depends on how much money we have and what strikers are available - there aren't too many nailed-on pacey strikers out there that you would bet your house on being a success in the Premiership. That means that we might and possibly will keep him.
  2. Is the Cup Final decided on the day with Penalties? Think it is, but just wanted to be sure there is no replay data...

  7. I'd ask him what he felt when he was going through his "Couldn't hit an elepahnt's a*** with Crouchie's banjo" phase a couple of years ago. My impression was that the crowd supported him then like never before. Did he "feel" this? and if so why wouldn't he want to again. Also, ask him if he feels he can form a partnership with Fowler.

    Cisse

Dear oh Dear.. Ok, I think we can all agree that Cisse won't make an all time LFC XI, but to vilify him after a game in which we have reached the FA Cup Final really pisses me off. I could be wrong here coz alcohol has killed some of my memory cells, but I THINK that Cisse came on when we were 2-0 up, NOT 2-1 up. If so, it's a fair enough substitution. But Chelsea had no option BUT to put us under pressure from the 65th minute onwards and being put under this pressure is NOT Cisse's fault that we were put under this pressure. Cisse has been most effective in the past three months when he's been played wide right, accepting Xabi's passes and skinning the full back. In the last 20 minutes on Saturday, Xabi had more things on his mind than trying to find Cisse wide right - he was too busy defending deep midfield along with Momo and Stevie - let's leave Traore out of the debate for now (when IS he gonna get longer studs on his boots by the way?). Therefore Cisse had, on the whole, only hoofs from the back four to chase up the park against the three defenders who were marking him. Ok, he was out of position for most of these, but it wasn't THAT easy for him. About 8 minutes from the end Reina kicked a ball out of hand that went 40 yards away from Cisse and Mori - are we going to start to pick on him, too? Cisse, ANY Liverpool player - deserves more respect than he's gotten on this forum over the past few months. He had big, BIG balls to score that goal in Istanbul, casually "re-spotting" the ball before passing it past Dida, in front of the Milan fans, months after nearly losing his leg. We're in the final. He played his part. Cut the fellah some slack.

    70 points

Ok. We're on 70 points. Tottenham can get to 73 max Arsenal can get to 71 max No other team below us can get to 70 points. We have a much better goal difference than Spurs so 1 win would take us to 73 points, out of reach of them. If we lose all our games, Arsenal can catch us. If we draw 2 and lose 2 Spurs can catch us.

Following today's results we're just one victory away from guaranteed third place. Only Arsenal or Spurs can overtake us by winning all their games and us losing (or drawing) all of ours. Chase on for second still, of course, but ManU DO have Sunderland to play as well, so it's looking doubtful. One good thing about this is that Chelsea need to keep playing stong teams until AFTER the Cup Semi, whereas we will have hopefully wrapped up third (at least) by then.

  14. I don't care who wins it ..... as long as it's NOT Arsenal. Two of my brothers support them, loads of my mates support them, but I don't want another English side to EVER win this cup apart from us. A mate of mine (who supports Forest) doesn't understand me, he always supports English sides in Europe and wants them to win - even ManU in '99. I just cannot and will not do that. I hope Villareal tonk them.

  17. It's a slow news week with no Wednesday game, so ..... You must pick 2 from the 60's, 2 from the 70's, 2 from the 80's, 2 from the 90's, 2 from the 00's and then you can have another 2 from any decade. Eleven players plus one Manager. Any formation you like. It's tougher than you think... I'd go for .... Clemence (70's) Lindsay (70's) Hansen (80's) Yeats (60's) Carra (00's) Barnes (90's) Gerrard (00's) Molby (80's) Peter Thompson (60's) Fowler (90's) Dalglish (70's) Shankly (60's) Anyone else?

  20. Cheers SB, and everyone else who contributed. I thought it was Cormack, just wasn't sure.
  21. I stand corrected then.
  22. Fair enough, but I don't reckon he had to use Liverpool in his example. He could have said Southampton for instance. Who knows, there may have been an amatuer in their past who was signed on a temporary basis then put on as a sub and ended up a laughing stock. As did the Manager. Ali Dia was crap and was laughed out of town. In a team sport. A scratch golfer misses the cut in a big golf tournament and nobody notices. Come on - You know I'm right.
  23. I thought Brian Hall played no. 8 when they both played together? I'm old, I'm weary, I'm probably wrong.
  24. From the BBC Website .... Jocky is over in the US for The Masters which starts this week. He played the course, then made a comment about how tough it is as a non-professional golfer (Hansen plays off 3...)... If you put an amateur footballer into a good Liverpool team, he may not look great but he could possibly get by without disgracing himself. Not in golf. If you put an amateur in at the highest level in golf - the Masters, for example - you are talking light years of difference.
