  4. If Chelsea were seven or eight points ahead of us then last night would have cost us, big. But we've gained a point on Man U, and had the pleasure of seeing their reconstituted defence torn to shreads by a team with one fit striker. We also have two games in hand on them, and they'll lose two or three more before the end of the season. So, lets take off the rose-tinted glasses and look at the facts - We're in an excellent position for second place, which would be a MASSIVE improvement on last year. I was pissed off with us dropping a couple of points, but in my glass-half-full sort of way I cheered up when I heard what happened up the road. And as for those saying we're looking tired? - I agree, but so are Chelsea, and ManU and Arsenal and even Spurs. It's the team that rotates effectively that will get the most out of the remainder of this season, and I like what Rafa is trying to do with resting the defenders - guys who, Left-Back excepted, haven't had a break in eight months.
  5. Alec Lindsay. That straight-backed run, Hair like a docker. Shot like a rocket. Can still see his dissalowed goal in the '74 Cup Final.....!
  6. No worries mate. I thought your comments were pretty neutral to be honest. It's an emotive issue with me, sorry if i went off on one.
  7. To answer your last point, and because I've had 2nd hand personal experience of this I can say with 100% honesty that if this had been about Gerrard, Xabi, Carragher, Kenny Dalglish, Bill Shankly I would feel the same.

  9. Hey. First of all, be VERY careful here. There is a BIG difference between "praising" ManU and giving them credit. What I was saying was, clearly, that for the players they had available they got their tactics spot on. Cisse did not play well - I couldn't agree more with you. Neither did Crouch in fact, and that makes about four games in a row. But I said last week that ManU were still a good team and got slaughtered for it. Yesterday proved that they are. I'm not praising them and I was gutted for HOURS after yesterdays game. I'm still pissed off now. But I'm trying to look at this objectively, from the point of the way that BOTH teams played. Can you honestly say the same?
  10. Gutted we lost, but I'm encouraged by the way I feel after this match to be honest. We dominated Manchester Utd, at Old Trafford and as long as they retain their management team and we retain ours that will continue. Crouch Cisse and Mori are all slightly off form at the moment, possibly down to the role they play in the team keeping clean sheets - they put in a LOT of work. Xabi is a genius, but the work of Momo helps him to get the space to be that genius. Finnan looks as good as ever despite the goul, and it was a foul. Hyppia did ok as did Carra and Harry looked good again. Are we players short of making "the leap"? Probably, yes. But will we be in a years time? I don't think so. I was proud of the team for all 90 minutes today, and they will learn from this.
  11. Time to offer Harry a two year extension methinks.

  13. Gunners & Villa winning. All others 0-0, Except City ManYoo of course ....
  14. Nando is being dominated so far.
  15. Momo is FULL of energy, and playing well. Stevies a little subdued out wide though.
  16. Harry looks sharp.
  17. Fair call. I feel bad. I'm shutting down winamp now. Then I'm going to church to beg forgiveness.
  18. Carrick. Class act. AWFUL Haircut.
  19. Got it. Thanks boys.

    The Quiet Man

Thanks for pointing this out, mate.

    The Quiet Man

Cheers everyone - I do now remember him playing for Swansea for a year or so, yeah. I'm only asking about him because he was one of only two players (if I'm right) with Tommy Smith that won the League with Shanks and then the European Cup with Bob. We all know some of the stories about Tommy but not so much about Cally. Was he Player of the Year as well? In '74?
