  1. It's a Martin Luther King thing: I have a bream.
  2. I can understand your distaste but under the FFP rules it's the only way we can compete without manipulating income streams in the City style. Like them or loath them, FSG know how to run a sporting enterprise and have a track record to prove it. I'm sure you've heard the expression, “a fish rots from the head”. The corollary being a successful business starts with talented management and FSG have provided that during their ownership. In my view, we are fortunate to have them. Long may it continue.
  3. Copy & Paste from Football Insider. Liverpool want to close the commercial gap on Manchester United after outperforming the market over the past few years. That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Merseyside giants have grown their commercial revenue in an impressive way over the past decade compared to some of their Premier League rivals. Liverpool announced on 4 November Kate Theobald has been promoted to commercial director, replacing Ben Latty after he was promoted to chief commercial officer at the end of last season. The Merseysiders’ commercial revenue rose by £25million in their latest accounts for the 2022-23 season, taking their overall total to £272.5million. Man United generated £302.9million commercially across the same period, while Arsenal banked £169.3million. Borson revealed Liverpool’s new deal with kit manufacturer Adidas will widen the commercial gap on Arsenal and take them closer to Man United’s level. He told Football Insider: “Liverpool have done relatively well in reality over the last few years. “They have grown their commercial revenue quite dramatically over the last 10 years in quite an impressive way compared to a lot of the other teams around them. “They are not at United’s level, but if you look at the Adidas deal they have just entered into, that is said to be at the same level or very close to the United level of £90million per annum. “That is quite a significant development over time and it puts Liverpool a good 30-40 per cent higher than teams like Arsenal. They have done that with the limitations that you get from being a non-London club. “Clearly, they want to go to that next step and get closer to United, who are still the kings of commercial revenue in the UK. “But if you were to look at growth versus 2019 for Liverpool, they have outperformed the market very considerably. “United have grown their commercial revenue only by 10 per cent since 2019, whereas Liverpool have grown it by 45 per cent. “They have had some pretty big successes over that period, but it’s really about going to that next step to get closer to the European giants that they see themselves alongside.”
  4. I've no idea, Frimpong made his reputation as an attacking fullback. On the subject of fullbacks, Football Insider has recently published this: Liverpool and Chelsea have joined the race to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez after his impressive performances this season. That is according to former Man United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that a host of top clubs are plotting moves for the defender. This comes after Football Insider revealed that Man United are also in the race for his signature as they want to improve their options at left-back. Kerkez, 20, has stood out as one of the Cherries’ top performers under Andoni Iraola and has been continuously linked with a move away. He has featured 43 times since his move to the Vitality in 2023, including starts in all ten of their Premier League games so far this season. The level of consistency in his game at such a young age, as well as his talent both defensively and going forward, has made him a top target for a number of clubs.
  5. The Mirror claiming Frimpong being lined up as a replacement for Trent. Harsh on Bradley if true.
  6. It certainly has made a comeback and deservedly so, I'm hoping it's included in the playlist of Oasis forthcoming tour. It's a vast improvement on Wonderwall.
  7. Atmosphere at it's best when this is belted out at Anfield: Let me tell you the story of a poor boy Who was sent far away from his home To fight for his king and his country And also the old folks back home So they put him in a highland division Sent him off to a far foreign land Where the flies flew around in their thousands And there's nothing to see, but the sand And the battle, it started the next morning Under the Libyan sun I remember that poor Scouser Tommy Who was shot by an old Nazi gun As he lay on the battlefield dying With the blood gushing out of his head As he lay on the battlefield dying These were the last words he said "Oh, I am a Liverpudlian, I come from the Spion Kop I like to sing, I like to shout, I go there quite a lot We support a team that plays in red, a team that we all know A team that we called Liverpool, to glory we will go We've won the league, we've won the cup, and we've been to Europe too We played the Toffee's for the laugh, we left them feeling blue" One two, one two three, one two three four, five nil Rush scored one Rush scored two Rush scored three And Rush scored four Na na na na, na na na, na na na All you need is Rush All you need is Rush All you need is Rush Rush, Rush is all you need
  8. Copy and paste job. Last quip made me smile. Ryan Gravenberch: "Arne Slot called me for an interview. After the Euro’s he told me how he saw me. Of course, he knew me from my time at Ajax, when he was at AZ and Feyenoord. He told me which position he wanted to use me in, and he put me at six."“I went into it [new position] with an open mind. I played as an 8 and when I was younger, I also played as a 6. That helps, but now other things are being asked. When I was younger there was no Virgil to call me back to the back.”"I’ve started playing more defensively. Now I have to think more defensively. I have Virgil behind me to help me. If I go too far forward, he calls me back. ‘Rio, stay here!’. I notice that he has to shout less and less often.
  9. Quick copy & paste and a Cob's fiver for naming the first LFC player to score on his debut. I don't know the answer. He became the 2nd Liverpool player to score on his England debut in 42 years, putting in a fantastic performance against Greece. His game by numbers: 96% pass accuracy (65/68) 7 duels won 7x possession won 4 tackles 2 fouls won 1 successful take-on 1 shot 1 goal
  10. Who is the Walrus of Hate? Asking for a mate, obviously.
  11. Chelsea pair Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer, Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, Manchester City midfielders Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Southampton's Aaron Ramsdale have all pulled out.
  12. I'm suffering from post Trump defeatism syndrome. You must know the feeling.

  14. I like your confidence but Southampton played well against City recently yet couldn't convert their chances. They are capable of a wonder goal, like the Forest winner at Anfield, and won't have too many players returning from international duty so they should be in good physical condition. Not being expected to win they might as well give it a go and see what happens. I'm more jittery about this fixture than the recent game at Arsenal. It reminds me of the expected stroll at Bournemouth after beating the Mancs 7-0. Having destroyed Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield we managed to lose 1-0 with even Mo missing a penalty. I fear complacency and international-break fatigue, and would shake hands now on a 1-0 win.
  15. From the Arne Slot thread on Sad Cafe, posted by a Liverpool fan. He has a point. Depends which type of Liverpool fan you’re referring to. Heavily online fans obsess over transfers and spent the entirety of Klopp’s reign wanting FSG to be more like Chelsea. Every August they would predict catastrophe and doom. As with all these things, the sane fan may like more activity in the market but FSG have been broadly good for Liverpool. Off the pitch they have built a very strong football infrastructure, two new stands, a new training ground and exponential growth in club value. They’ve also appointed Klopp and now Slot. Nobody is perfect, but short of being a sports washing enterprise, there aren’t many better ownership groups in England - if any.

  17. Agree with all of the above, especially Konate. MOTM for me, I can't recall him making a single mistake. Awesome.
  18. Match commentator said; City sat back in second half and, Brighton manager must be a good motivator. Brighton manager must have made a tactical adjustment, but I've no idea what it was. Thankfully it worked.
  19. O'Riley, the lad Brighton bought from Celtic, has played well since he came on. Very impressive.
  20. Change ya mind, I won't tell. Promise.
