We defended well apart from a wobble during the 15 to 20 minutes period. Kelleher made 3 top saves in that spell. We were quick to crowd out any MU player who hugged the ball and won most 50/50 challenges. Bradley and the Greek were sound in 1 v 1 tussles and positive in attack. Both centre halves did well although Rashford was an early threat with his pace when cutting inside, but faded as the half wore on. They won 2 dangerous headers in our box in the first half, Casemiro going close with his attempt. Apart from that, Konate and Q were solid and error free with Bradley the pick of the back 4. Both sides made numerous second half changes which saw our third choice keeper, Jaros, make two cracking saves. He passed the ball well too. If Kelleher is sold we look to have a useful replacement.

Yep. We looked peak Klopp when crowding them out. Good to see Doak in decent form, hope he keeps injury free.

HT 2-0 Grav and Harvey playing well. Entertaining game.

Carvallio 1-0, nice approach play, good low shot.

I read a similar report to yours. The weird 4-2-4 formation with Dom and Elliot as false 9's and Nyoni MOM after replacing Jones. Nyoni began move that resulted in our goal. Also read; Moreton played well after replacing Endo who was caught in possession far too often. This should have resulted in goals for the opposition but poor finishing let them down. Bradley was a, “shining light,” in the first half.

I think most of us agreed with the above sentiments but BBC 2 just announced: Inside Anfield has become a box office sensation one week after it's release, taking £1.1M in cinemas worldwide. Tom Cruise for DM?

Celtic won 4 - 3. Haarland was City captain.

Evening Standard; Slot Out, Southgate In. Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is looking at the positives after overseeing his first game in charge of the club. The Reds were beaten 1-0 by Championship side Preston in a behind-closed-doors friendly, with Robbie Brady’s fine strike proving the only goal of the game. Slot used a different lineup in each half, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai being among the starters from the off and Stefan Bajcetic appearing after the break. Salah, Harvey Elliott and Conor Bradley all went close in the first-half before Brady’s brilliant strike from distance after Liverpool were caught out playing from the back. Slot’s side could not respond after the interval but the Dutchman is looking far beyond the result, as is natural at this stage of pre-season. “After two weeks of tough training sessions it’s important to play a game as well,” he said. “The most important thing is that everybody was fit before the game and they stayed fit during the game as well. Unfortunately the result today was not what we wanted, but they stayed fit, many of them got minutes [and] also a lot of young players got a few minutes so that was a good thing.”

Telegraph team of the Tournament; Formation: 4-2-3-1 Goalkeeper: Giorgi Mamardashvili (Georgia) Georgia were the surprise package of the tournament and their giant goalkeeper was perhaps their most impressive player. The 23-year-old made an astonishing 29 saves in four matches. He was crucial to Georgia’s progress into the knockout stages, making 11 saves in their 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic. Right-back: Jules Koundé (France) During France’s time in the competition, no player in the tournament recovered possession more times than Koundé. France failed to ignite as an attacking force but their defensive strength carried them into the final four. The Barcelona defender helped France to four clean sheets and pushed forward down the right. Centre-back: John Stones (England) Marc Guéhi may have received more praise but that is, in part, because he is new to this England team. Stones has been a key member of the side for years and he has demonstrated, once again, why he remains one of the first names on the team sheet. Consistent, composed, reliable. Centre-back: William Saliba (France) Described by some French pundits as their most important player, Saliba underlined his status as one of the finest centre-backs in Europe. Some are now arguing he is the best defender in the world. Given the quality of his performances, it is strange to think that Didier Deschamps had pre-tournament concerns about Saliba. Left-back: Marc Cucurella (Spain) Cucurella’s emergence as a full-back of international class has been one of the stories of the summer. The 25-year-old has endured a difficult few years with Chelsea in the Premier League but has shown technical quality, energy and a fierce competitive spirit during his time in Germany. John Stones was composed and consistent at the heart of England's defence - Jonathan Moscrop/Getty Images© Provided by The Telegraph Central midfield: Rodri (Spain) The best controlling midfielder in the world. Perhaps even the best player in the world? Rodri is to Spain what he is to Manchester City: the technical leader of the team, and the man through whom everything flows. He knows when to play fast and when to play slow. Central midfield: Fabián Ruiz (Spain) Playing alongside the majestic Rodri, Ruiz has been granted the freedom to push forward into attacking positions and has been fundamental to Spain’s thrilling attacking style. He passes forward, and runs into dangerous areas when the opportunity presents. Before Sunday’s final he had registered two goals and two assists. Right winger: Lamine Yamal (Spain) The teenage sensation in Spain’s attack and the leading creative force at the tournament. Prior to Sunday’s final, Yamal led the assist charts (with three) and scored perhaps the finest individual goal of the summer with his long-range effort in the semi-final against France. Turned 17 only on Saturday. Attacking midfield: Dani Olmo (Spain) With three goals and two assists in five appearances before the final, Olmo could justifiably claim to be the most productive attacking player of the tournament. The 26-year-old has excelled as a starter and a substitute, demonstrating a precious ability to adapt to the pace of the game from the bench. Left winger: Jamal Musiala (Germany) Musiala was the star of the opening two weeks of Euro 2024, scoring three goals in Germany’s first four games and lighting up the tournament with his dribbling. At 21 years old, Musiala is on course to become one of the most thrilling players in world football, if he is not there already. Striker: Cody Gakpo (Netherlands) It has not been a great tournament for centre-forwards, as evidenced by our selection of Gakpo. The Liverpool attacker spent his tournament as a left winger, rather than a striker, but we have picked him because he often drifted into central positions and was impressively decisive in front of goal.

Joint top, NR and ND, well done both. The knockout predictions were even more exciting than the football itself. Especially for us Scotland fans.
-
Sites such as Football 365, This Is Anfield and others. They were published after Klopp made his resignation announcement. As I said, I've no idea how reliable the 3 rejections storey is but the players preference was widely reported at the time.
-
Apparently Linjders rejected the offer of LFC manager three times. No idea how true that is, but I read it after it became public that he was the players preferred choice to replace Klopp. As you say, he doesn't sound too inspirational in that clip but he must have something about him. It will be interesting to see how he does at Red Bull this season.

Gomes plays central midfield. He had a decent game on his Brazilian debut in mid week. Played 85 minutes, passing stats in the 90's and was subbed late-on for a striker as Brazil chased a winner in the goal less draw.
-
We have been linked with Joao Gomes of Wolves. A 23y/o who made his debut for Brazil in their last game. Wolves bought him a year ago for £18M. No idea how reliable the rumour is but I read about our interest in Gomes twice in past week, although no fee was mentioned.

The only way I can win is to get 3 points and NR 0. If he makes the same prediction as me then I've had it. Don't tell NR, but I've gone for France 2 – Holland 1. Nuff said.

“Genuinely the real deal”. !!!!!!!! It's an impressive result but you've had too much to drink. An early night and a nice lie down is in order. Dream on and sleep well.
