Yes,but I think people are pooh poohing the idea on the premise that we don't have the funds,which we most probably don't,especially when in competition with Chelsea. Of course we have a chance of getting the world's best players at the moment,with Rafa and Gerrard here,not to mention Alonso.

The thinking is that he won't go anyway,he's not in the squad,he's in the "reserve" list. He's not going to go. I don't agree with the selection,but I can see why he's chosen him. The safe option.

Yeah,but he knows he needs some players with experience,if just to appease the press,fans etc. You can choose one or two wildcards,not a whole squadsworth.

Joey Barton's twice the player Neville is. Neville's got the experience I guess though,that probably counts for a lot at this stage. He still won't go though.

I don't agree with that Wayne,as somebody else pointed out he works really hard,he's one of those strikers who actually bothers to do defensive duties,like Rushie used to.He's always running about harrying and hassling the defenders,which makes a great contribution to any team. I also reckon that Johnson's got pace and a decent touch,and clearly knows where the net is,which are some great attributes to have. He's not worth any more than £8m at the moment though. If he was German,for example,he'd probably go for around £5 or £6 million.

He's right though,at Newcastle he'll be astonished at the incredible match-day atmosphere. The end of every game will be met by a cacophony of deafening boos,you don't get atmosphere like that anywhere else. Not even Sunderland.

How about you compare players who play in the same position for a start. The fact that Keane played for the Mancs has absolutely no bearing on this thread,oh no,not at all.
