What's that got to do with anything? Who cares where he's from,that doesn't make him a better player than Keane. Do you remember Keane against Juve in '99,sad to say it but that's one of the best performances I've ever seen from an individual. Say what you like about Gerrard in Istanbul,he was superb,but Keane against Juve was the best example of a driving central midfielder.Gerrard hasn't reached the level of dominance that Keane had in his pomp,that level of consistency dominating a midfield. Perhaps he needs better players around him to do that,something Rafa is working on. Keane commanded respect through words as well as actions,I would say that,in our team,Carra is the man who commands respect through words,Gerrard through actions.

That's not leadership,that's footballing ability. So when Luis Garcia scored that peach against Juve,he was exhibiting leadership? Feck,the amount of times he's bailed us out with crucial goals he should be skipper. Don't confuse leadership with ability. So did Danny Murphy. Phil Neville has played in loads of positions,it doesn't matter one jot.

Rubbish,like John L and Sean said,he was a better leader,he was better at keeping the ball. He wasn't as athletically gifted as Gerrard or able to produce moments of genius like Gerrard,but as a central midfielder he was pretty much unsurpassed in Europe for years. He was bigger than the sum of his parts,if you like. I think Gerrard will go on to be much better though.

Bergkamp's. Owen's was a great goal,but have you ever seen somebody kill a ball like that,beat a player like that,and finish like that? Phenomenal goal.

To be honest though,if we were to spend £20m on one player,I would hope it was for somebody who could give us a little more in the long-term. Somebody a bit younger!
