  1. I agree. I think it's really prestigious to win the Uefa Cup, and bloody hard to do it. It is however all about winning it. Coming 2nd feels like a complete waste of time, unlike the CL which by just making the final you get respect.

    Garcia

Which brings the thread back nicely to Garcia, don't you think? Very similar in that sense. Not completely the same, but very similar.

Sorry Anny but I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one.

    Garcia

That would indeed be an alternate view When he played, he enabled us to retain the ball higher up the pitch and we played better football, particularly when he had a free role behind the forward. A bit like Garcia, a lot better when he's allowed to roam, rather than made to stay out wide. We were losing the CL Final before Vlad came on. By the time he had finished his business, well, we all know what happened then

When Vlad played well, Liverpool played well. Granted he didn't play too often, but when he did and he was match fit we played some very good football. Obviously there were other influences too, but he really did make a difference when match fit.
  7. That is fecking funny. Crouch, Kewell and Garcia look hilarious. Those necks! We should win more headers!!

Garcia - Genuinely a two footed footballer. That in itself is gold dust!
  9. I just think this bit is a shame. I honestly think that if people like you did condemn these actions/songs etc, a lot of others would follow. You're clearly a very experienced match goer with lots of friends, many of whom I'm sure would respect and follow you, if you took this kind of stance instead. I recognise the heat of the moment makes us all do things we wouldn't normally do.
  10. Good idea. I was so pleased for him when we were drawn against them. Poor Vlad. Made of glass. Good quality glass mind you. ....................................................... Just looked. He's in the squad due to injuries elsewhere, but is unlikely to feature. Should be there though!!!
  11. It's bizarre that we can be so different yet have so much in common too. There's no right or wrong here, and I wasn't trying to take the moral high ground or anything. I still found Jack Bauer's post "manc c***s" extremely funny. I'm very interested to hear JohnnyH views as it sounds like we're very similar. I'll happily watch sunday morning football over the park if I'm nearby, particularly since I can't play right now. All in all though, I do think people can be very different but still share the same common passion. I also admit that it is without doubt a very small minority that cause the grief. It's because of that I also believe more can be done to stop it. Strength in numbers and all that. I'm also pleased to hear that Anny Road tends to pacify rather than encourage aggro, and apologise to him for any offence I may have caused (though i think he's had me on ignore for ages now). ps. First half on Sat was outstanding. I've not seen pass and move like that from us for too long. Hope it continues.

  13. Since you're being picky, I'll reply by saying I never said he did like fighting. I said 'IF' he did. Though there have been posts from Anny Road in the past gloryfying violence.
  14. I understand what you are saying, and agree with you, but at the same time the reason it is their profession is because they are and always have been mad about the game of football.
  15. Rubbish. People played the game before they supported a team playing it. Plenty play the game and don't even follow a team. Agreed, the status of the game in modern life would be completely different, but the game would still be there. Same. Paid to play before injury struck
  16. I'm just as passionate about Liverpool as anyone. I just recognise that football comes first. Perhaps my passion is just, different.
  17. ...and that is why we will always disagree. I have absolutely nothing in common with people like your good self. It always has and always will be about the football. Ask Rafa, Shanks, Dalglish, Gerrard whoever. The game would still exist without the fans. The fans are nothing without the game. If you like fighting, try boxing. Usual repsonse from you I see. In answer to your question. Yes I have been to a game Big Wayne. Many in fact. I understand totally how tense the atmosphere can get - I've been caught up in it myself. Doesn't excuse it though. One patronising question back to you. Have you ever played football - properly?
  18. No. Just that the two exist and they can be very different at times, though disguised as the same thing. I see myself as a football fan first and foremost. I'm also a Liverpool fan, always have been and always will be. When watching them play I really don't care what the opposition fans are singing. If you hear me talk after the game, it will be about the football only. I totally understand that when you're caught up amongst it can 'take over', but I also believe some supporters, including some on here, actually enjoy the nasty side. Those individuals tend to care more about LFC than football itself. No right, no wrong, just how I see it. Yes. That. Though obviously written better than me.
  19. Did anyone see the game on Sunday? We were not that good by the way. Lost 2-0. Seriously though. Until those that sing the songs on either side start to watch the football things will never change. Some are football fans first, some are club/tribal fans. There's a difference and there always will be. Also, anyone who thinks that standing up and complaining on mass in the right direction will not make a difference is delusional. If governments can be overthrown, I'm sure offensive chanting can be stopped.
  20. Peltier was torn to pieces by Owens. Besian Idrizaj looks quite a prospect though.
  21. He's lacking confidence and fitness. He needs one good game then he'll kick start I'm sure. He also needs regular games, like all our players unfortunately.
  22. Big cities next door to each other will always be main rivals, just as neighbouring countries, schools, towns are etc. As for the violence, nastiness, well that's just caused by a lack of intelligence.
  23. Need to consider the victories by Villa, Forest and Celtic. No names spring to mind yet though.
