Haha. I think football is often more dangerous when it's asymmetric. It's rarely balanced in any team once the game starts anyway. I think of Salah's replacement in terms the output, rather than literal. This is why Wirtz, Barcola and Isak all suddenly come into the picture.

I suspect when both are fit, Gakpo and Barcola will be the wide starters on either side. I'd say Barcola is Salah's replacement, and he's decent. Doesn't matter which side he plays, Gakpo and Munoz will be on the other, backed up by Rio. Compared to 24/25 champions, Munoz is Diaz replacement and Barcola is Salah's replacement. Gakpo still here and Rio emerging (Elliot replacement). Plus Frimpong, never forget Frimpong, he brings VIBES!

He should be starting league games. He looks good to me at the moment after the Newcastle game. But even that game, still loads of players should have done more for the goals after he lost possession. He looks up for it this year, and moves about the pitch with way more intent than the other two.

Yeah looking around the pitch, we just seemed to have a more physical, intimidating presence. We still let them play through us a bit, but overall I felt more relaxed watching us defend. Virg could see Jacquet and Ron had the right side tied up, so he could stay in his own lane and support Kerkez and played better himself as a result.

I love Wirtz, from a purely technical ability sense. Anyone that's played can see he's an unbelievable talent that we'dall dream of being able to replicate. His touch is incredible. However... This league is so far just a bit too intense for him. He still looks so lightweight. Pains me to say it, but he needs to watch Bruno Fernandes and Cherki, then ask himself if he can put himself about more like they do, then really get hold of a game. Still feels like the new boy. Just grab a game lad. Once he does it once, we could see a phenomenon.
