  1. Of course he is, but where will be really interesting. Konate will be out most likely (family thing), so Gomez and Frimpong in defence and probably Salah in usual position i'm guessing.
  2. Woah, I need to think about that for a bit...
  3. That's not what we wanted him for. His break and pass to Salah for equaliser at the Emirates last season was ace. Not to mention Brentford away
  4. This post made think of the glory days (in a midfield sense) of "momo sissoko, xabi alonso, Gerrard and mascheranoooooo " That 4 (Gerrard as a 10) had everything between them.
  5. Let's be honest, if Nunez could finish his chances, everything else was brilliant. Really weird how he could not just pass the ball into the net, and easy to practice too.
  6. I think that's right, with only one exception, Hodgson. I'm confident nobody wanted him or supported him at any point. For me, I even wanted Brendon to succeed. He got us very close, played great fun football and I still look back on that season with fondness.
  7. Pass to the Dutchie on the left hand side? No thanks, he just cuts inside and blams it into defenders.
  8. Virg, Slot, Gakpo, van Bronkhorst.... it's all starting to add up isn't it. Just need Seedorf and Davids to join the coaching staff and have a proper internal Dutch explosion like their national teams used to love. Feck, we have Frimpong and Gravenberch as well don't we, we've gone full on Dutch takeover.
  9. Play Frimpong right back with Salah ahead of him. Tell him to get as close to Salah and overlap him as much as possible. This gets the best of Frimpong and helps Salah not be so isolated so he can do what he does better. To compensate, play the ageing Robbo at left back and tell him to hold his ground and push across to make a back three when we attack, with Virg central and Konate right. Gakpo can then do what he does, which is hold the ground to keep the left side solid whilst we favour the right. Wirtz can have freedom to drift left ahead of Gakpo if he needs to, but otherwise get close to Salah centrally with Ekitike ahead and also shifting left ahead of Gakpo when it makes sense. So more attacking on the right with Salah and Frimpong, solid on the left to compensate, and effectively 3 at the back when we're attacking to help stop the breaks. Done.
  10. Virg loves to slow it down, always has.
  11. Go halves?
  12. That's not the point though is it. It's about trusting players like him. Klopp did, all of them. Slot doesn't, all of them. It's not a good look.
  13. He was polite about Slot, as you would expect, but he also said this when comparing him to Klopp.. Morton explains: “Jurgen Klopp was the best coach for my development. I think at that moment, I was ready to play. I’m not saying that no one believed it, but I think I was ready, and Klopp thought so too. He gave me the opportunity to play on the biggest stage for a very big club. He believed in me, allowed me to go out on loan to develop. “Jurgen just wanted the best for me, he made me play great matches in the Champions League and the Premier League. It was a remarkable period, he made me progress at all levels.”
  14. Apologies if mentioned already, but anyone read Tyler Morton's comments re differences between Klopp and Slot? Quite damning really, and confirms what we already know about Slot not trusting the bench.
  15. What a man Mane is. Brilliant from him yesterday to make sure Senegal came back on to the pitch. That penalty?!?!?! What a time to try that...
  16. If he wants to work, that might be the only option currently, in a league he knows.
  17. Rumours are Alonso is taking to Frankfurt
  18. Honestly? Nobody is exciting me at the moment. We could get those two and we'd look different, maybe more enjoyable, I'm just not convinced they'd actually be better for us right now. Seems to be a real lack of talent out there right now, but surely that can't be true. Don't get me wrong, I loved him as a player, one of my favourite ever midfielders, but in what way is he a "legend" for us?
  19. OK, OK... Let's park Alonso. I maintain he's not ready for us. Re the emotion, I feel Enrique is more of a hot head, like Maresca and others. I'd describe Klopp by comparison as being very passionate, but ultimately he demonstrated consistently very high levels of emotional intelligence. He always had perspective, was always able to be humble. He is and will always be very grounded. Sure, he didn't have connection with Liverpool either, but you just knew that he would get us. He became us. I don't see that with Enrique. In fact, I see him more as someone that already probably doesn't like us, a recent rival. There, that's my workings out
  20. Slot isn't ready either ?
