My friend worked for BBC after years as a Journo. He too has really good insight through ;high up;contacts, one of whom is very close to the PL. He has been adamant throughout the PL are after City, that their entire existence as a viable force could be at stake, that City have been throwing money at top lawyers for ages and that's why it's taken so long. The determination is there to nail them good and make an example of them such a high level has the piss taking been and the PL think they can do it.

Fair shout in that context. But not all leveraged are malign if the money is spent on infrastructure and personnel. Borrowing money always costs but if Thr Glazers hadn’t taken millions out in dividends and reinvested the Mancs would be a terrifying proposition.
-
You do know you can leverage a buy out? How do you know what Jack Walker's family firm would be worth had they continued to trade? Or John Smith's? There are plenty 57 billionaires in this country, many of them multi billionaires, and that's just the UK, the world is full of ultra wealthy Liverpool fans, you have nothing to back your assumptions up mate.

You made your statement, i answered and got addendums and caveats, nobody mentioned time scales (although it was during the modern era) and the money involved might look small now but then it would do wouldn't it. He sold it for £55m in 2007 and still had all of his other interests, he was an enormously wealthy man, I could throw in Jack walker who was worth £382m in 1992 when he bought Blackburn too. These people exist, that c*** Ratcliffe at United is a real threat to us despite the way he goes about things, none of the aforementioned are petro states, oligarchs, hedge funds or despots, give it up.

Bloody hell man, you're a moving target, got any more post statement caveats you can think of?
-
But this is the mid 90's equivalent in answer to your question. Stop wriggling! Give me an example of insanely wealthy owners that have come into sport that aren't City or have City-like backers then?

John Hall at Newcastle back in the day, built that ground and they almost won the league with a massive investment in players.

Wrestling legends innit. No. We've signed a few that played against us in finals mind, Terry Mac, Barney, Ray Kennedy,

His three year old has a drum with Ant and Dec on it. He's fcked! -
That'snot true at all. Kelleher boots it out loads and doesn't look comfortable with goal line risk taking at all compared to Ali.

A mate of mine was made very welcome in The Arkles with the Bournemouth crew. He thanked the landlord who replied 'you're welcome lads, now all of you, come and see us when you play Everton', which I thought showed superb initiative. Now it's a two mile hike and I wonder how bad it will hit the takings. I dunno where you heard this Paul, and I'm not saying it's untrue but every team has it's no marks and I've never heard of Newcastle causing major grief for anybody since the early eighties. I know a few ex headcases who loved nothing more back in the day but Newcastle rarely get a mention. -

How many on here would knock it on the head? I defo would but then my match attending days are getting fewer, plus I've seen us win literally everything bar the League Cup strangely enough. Hell of a shout to get rid of a season ticket when there's a 35 year wait, how many say they would and then don't? It's a toughie. -

I don't hate City fans because they're owned by despots, I largely hate them for their swagger and arrogance since they got rich. I remember a load of City fans in The Oakfield having a pint and a chat a few years back. So once Geordies end up being like that I will have changed my opinion, but they aren't anywhere near Mancs of all shapes and sizes and Chelsea thugs. The only default reason you can justify hating City fans is they didn't stop supporting them when they were taken over? I know Liverpool re unique but the fan base wouldn't disintegrate if Saudi's bought us, FPP was abolished and we signed the bestest players in the world and put a red shirt on them. -

They part exchanged the old one for a Vauxhall Victor. They need to not just replace, we need to replace AND have a bigger squad, particularly in the middle of the park, Alexis and Grav must be shattered. -

Oh and for the record, Wembley is a fcking disgrace, whoever designed it should be jailed, it's a sh1tshow to get in and out and also to get home, you can't get a drink, you have to queue up to get in and fight your way out. I hate the place with a passion, especially after standing on a platform for 50 minutes waiting for the train. -

I don't get this Geordie hate, this is the second time I've been to Wembley with them including 1974 where actually sat with them with a red scarf on, they were fine. I was chatting to an 80 year old fella with Leo on the train, he was a charming fella who'd seen them in 7 finals and only scored twice, and they were noisy fckers in the pub too but there was no underlying animosity. There are a lot more sides I'd prefer not to lose to. I (honestly) looked at the team at the end on Tuesday and thought they looked absolutely mullered. They gave it everything and were pretty brilliant for 90 minutes against arguably the best side in Europe but in the extra time period you could see them physically wilting, we were exhausted yesterday when the whistle first blew, no way Newcastle should be getting anywhere near us. Nothing ever changes, when we lose a cornerstone player we are immediately making do and fire fighting. We have probably 7 or 8 truly top class performers and the team is well run but as always we have one hand tied behind our backs, the squad needs the deadwood replaced properly in the summer and at least three £50m footballers added to become the real deal. It is so fcking infuriating that we haven't signed anybody of note for a year. I'm pretty sure we won't fck this up but I'm 100% certain it won't be a procession and deck chairs in April. -
