Exactly. I once heard him tell some fella to turn it in slagging his team off for their performance that day when he discovered the fella hadn't been to the match. Spot on. Contrast that to the BBC Merseyside phone-ins "Well, I wasn't at the game today, John, but Smicer was awful..." The problem with this "everyone has an opinion" s**** is too many people are complicit in the agreement that just because "everyone" has an opinion each are as valid as another. b******s. To use this site as an example I'd rather hear what Big Wayne has to say about the game than some mouthy nobhead who hasn't gone and doesn't know what happened but has a keyboard and an urge to type.

Thought Finnan was nothing short of magnificent myself. He didn't lose a header second half and was a constant outlet and genuine threat. He didn't give the ball away either.

Was I saying the booing was OK? No. What I am saying though is that if such a smattering of boos could convince Owen to move to Old Trafford then he deserves it. I've never booed any of our players either and am not about to start. Will you boo Diouf? I know I won't.

If I was still writing that sort of thing I'd say that he looked like a man in the grip of an existential crisis, as though every wrong decision he has made in the last two years was hitting him all at once and simultaneously realising that even if he does come back things can't be as they once were. A bit like seeing the ex you were unfaithful to at a wedding, realising she's far better than your last two girls but even if you got back you'd never really get back.

I was hardly embarrassed Lee. I wish there hadn't been booing but to be honest I was utterly proud to be a Liverpool fan after the first half - the Owen kerfuffle was almost irrelevant to the quality the side showed. I surprised anyone was surprised. He left in mixed circumstances and didn't show (according to the Echo - the first source for the majority of match-going supporters) the requisite desire to return to the club this summer. Add on to that the fact he was never as appreciated as he should have been then why the shock?

I agree with Cunny specifically in this thread and David Hodgson to some extent but if we are saying that Owen would sign for United because he got a few boos then more than a few boos he deserved.

Agree with that completely. They've shipped late ones because they can't chase a game.

Chill out George. They'll never get the chance against Emerson and Vieira as a pair. The sort of games which they should dominate they are and it's the first time in a long time you can say that about our midfield. Horses for courses.
