  2. Indeed. Talking sense really.
  3. Thought Lloris was their MOM at Anfield by a distance.
  4. Or have worked under the wrong manager. Paulinho looked a footballer. The goalkeeper is a player. Vertonghen looked good under Villas Boas. As per the above Sandro looks good but question marks around whether or not we need him.
  5. This has become dreadful. Somehow it has become a load of broken biscuits. I'd had a great morning till this point.
  6. Back on track? We're top of the league. Spurs are interesting. Two reasons: 1. Loads to learn from what's gone wrong for them this season 2. We should have an eye on them with reference to who they are going to let go.
  7. Gentleman's agreement around not playing Howard.
  8. My last on this - he refers to himself in his twitter bio as "neutral in the paper, passionate on here" so I suspect, as you do, he's fine with the current arrangement.
  9. Basically the reason you want to come top four is to have more good players to win more trophies. Arsenal have b*****dised this. The reason they want to come top four is to come top four is to come top four is to come top four. They can f*** off. This is why they can f*** off.
  10. You have to take three keepers. I would only take six defenders though.
  11. I watch them wondering why they are all running so slowly.
  12. Desperate for a Chelsea win tonight. Might get a shirt.
  13. He might well have his eye on Atletico Madrid.
  14. I disagree with him constantly. It is good fun. We had murder for 20 minutes on league cup win vs 12-0 home thrashing. My point above is it is very lazy to use his Twitter account to dismiss his undoubted professional ability.
  15. Ask him. EDIT: Though I suspect the answer is that there remain concerns, concerns shared on this board regularly, about the way we do our transfer business, especially with this summer ahead. He may even be mentioning it to act as a counterbalance to his strident criticism (again shared by many on this board) towards the transfer committee. They may have got x, y and z wrong, they may need to be renovated or scrapped, but they did *this* against the manager's wishes. He may even be making the point that this is hard, that there are endless wrong answers and processes and few correct ones and even the correct ones might only be correct ones for a while. Alternatively he could just be antagonising everyone. He does that too. So ask him.
  16. Barca weren't dominant enough around the time of that first win. Bayern need this years and they will be the closest anyone has been since AC Milan. Not too shabby, but not the business.
  17. I don't see beyond the paywall either (though where are you getting 300 GBP a year from? 2 or 10 quid a month isn't it?) but I see the articles that are available for free for a period of time and lo and behold they are streets ahead of the bitter mediocrity they are up against. Last paragraph - and yet, again - he is still in position, has thousands of people following him and hasn't moderated his stance one iota. They must be happy enough with him currently.
  18. Anonymous baldy. I tentatively think this is good news for this fixture. I'd rather have an anonymous baldy over an anonymous wool, but would rather have a high profile wool over a high profile baldy.
  19. As we've been mentioned... ...And yet he has the job, has had it for some time and has amassed a really strong team of journalists who appear to very much enjoy working for him and who turn out the best, least d****ead-y football discussion in the mainstream while they all also have a real and robust online presence. The Times' football coverage is streets ahead of The Guardian, The Independent and The Telegraph. Streets ahead. Not least because they all seem to like English football and not treat it like a bad c***. In short there's every chance he's doing something very right professionally.
  20. Neither Bayern nor Barca have achieved complete spectrum dominance abroad. Nowhere near it. Haven't won two on the bounce, haven't won three in five years. Maybe Bayern will get there this year.
  21. I know someone who has. I've scouted Berlin. We're going to have a ball and they are going to love us.
  22. I don't really see the burning need to rank any of these sides against one another or to end up in polarised positions in the discussion. The treble winning side could beat this one in a one off game. This one could beat the treble team, the 08/09 side could beat the treble one, this one could beat the 08/09 one. The treble side was magic, we have as much claim as anyone to say that in the 00s, a decade without any side able to lay claim to continental dominance, we were a great and genuinely feared side in European competition. We can say that without the league win because it is true. This side will scare the life out of people next season. Because of the football it plays and because it is a Liverpool side. You learn to be scared of them. They are good at football.
  23. The essence of your argument is that we are the best team in Europe. I agree and expect we're going to Berlin next year.
  24. Came out Monday lunchtime.
  25. It does. Clocked it again at the weekend.
