There are two questions for defensive changes this summer. Well, two and a half. Do you want Skrtel as starting centre half going forward and exactly what is there to be done with Enrique? Both in terms of his fitness and performance. I'd err on the side of Skrtel done enough to only need covering short term (but from better than Toure) and Enrique to go regardless. The half question arguably about the quality of players coming through but I'd be looking at Smith and McLaughlin to force people out rather than making way for them. Also the general question about keeping as small a squad as possible. Be happy going into next season with Johnson, Flanagan, Wisdom, Skrtel, Sakho, either of Toure and Ilori, a new centre back and a new left back. Leave you with three players who can play left back, three right back and five centre back options across eight players.

It is more hit and miss but a lot of it depends, I'd say, on the environment you bring players into. Only Kone has flopped going there this season - in part due to injury - and I'd say a huge number of Everton players have improved or impressed.
