I'm doing it by looking on the bright side. Given recent years, back in August I'd have been happy with securing 4th place, let alone 3rd or above. Before a run of 11 wins in a row, I wouldn't realistically have expected us to be in with a strong shout of the title. We're possibly "ahead of schedule", and certainly on schedule in terms of the manager building his team and instilling his preferred style of play, I think. We've definitely got straight into the group stages of the Champions League, which will hopefully see Suarez happy to stay and make it easier to attract other players to the club. And getting so close should make it more likely to owners will invest, rather than less. Sure, we were within touching distance (and still might do it), and after 24 years we're desperate for it. But even if we don't manage it this season, miserable I ain't. I do hope Chelsea get tw*tted midweek though and win feck all.
