You're talking to a guy who was a founding member of the Anfield4ever group, if he's now in favour of the move I think that says it all. Don't forget that almost as much money would be made from corporate facilities (boxes etc.) as from ticket sales. Also, isn't it impossible to expand the Anfield Road end? the road behind kind of prohibits it.

The fact that he didn't play for three months is...of course...irrelevant He's a good player IMO, I wouldn't like him as our only forward signing in the summer, but I'd be happy enough with one of Kuyt or Owen and getting Johnson or Defoe as the second forward.

I think Ashley Cole is hugely overrated TBH. He's defensively suspect.

True, but you have to admit he contributes a lot more to the team besides his goals, he's helped Gerrard's game no end for example. He obviously has the ability to score regularly, we saw that last season when he was at Southampton. I don't think out problems are as simple as bringing in new forwards, we're a bit unbalanced at times. I think we need a playmaker like Aimar, someone who can play the final ball in the last third of the pitch. Gerrard and Alonso are as good as anyone at the swift sweeping movements, but at times we need someone to create chances in and around the box. We need someone like Dalglish or Beardsley.

Yeah, but Mellor and Cisse contribute nothing to the team apart from goals (Mellor's stats are spurious anyhow as he's played so few games) My point is that people say Crouch will never score enough goals to merit his palce in the team, but they'd happily spend £30m tomorrow if Rooney said he wanted to come here. Crouch's contribution to our improvement has gone above many reds' heads. By the way my stats above relate to the time since Rooney joined United.
