  1. Sammy fecking lee, the manager who failed at Bolton...you can say whatever you like about his playing days but he isnt a capable manager, even a interim one. Louis Van Gaal...aaaarrrggh

    Broughton

What did I miss? I don't expect you to repost it but if you could drop me a pm if you don't mind? This whole ownership situ is driving me mad atm. Some news would be great.
  3. Unfortunately I think that can only be Rafa leaving....of course i hope its the sale of the club but i really doubt it.
  4. ffs, such a f**king mess Table, at this rate he will be rummaging around in the skip out the back
  5. You missed my edit to the post, forgot to add the bit where i said I feel Rafa deserves another season at least! I am pro-rafa and its been a depressing few days thinking that he may be walking away from our club in a few weeks due to the two cancers who are killing our club.
  6. Agree with this, there are only a few managers who i would want at LFC: - Hiddink - Mourinho - Capello They are in no order of preference, but I can assure you without any transfer funds and the constant turmoil none of them would even think of coming! Not only that but the only one who is available is Mourinho, I am hard pushed to think of anyone else and no Martin Oneil is not an option... Rafa deserves another season at least, give him a decent budget and a more stable club and then see what happens.
  7. There maybe 7 managers, but the real question is whether we want them to manage our club! Can i ask if they are in some order of preference? Because there is no way i want Rijkard, Martin Jol, Alex McLeish anywhere near our club! As for Pellegrini he couldnt even challenge for the CL with a team full of the likes of Kaka, Ronaldo and many millions of madrid. To be honest I dont know enough about Hitzfeld or Lippi to comment
  8. Agree, it was a pleasant surprise.
  9. Shudder - please someone save us from that jumped up t***
  10. Rafa's post match interview is up on the beeb: Rafa - Beeb Post Match Some interesting comments there about the fact that he has a 4 year contract, he will keep going till the end....but he did say he did not know when that would be!
  11. Anyone see Rafa's post match interview? Has it been on yet?
  12. I am starting to feel sorry for Pepe watching this game, the players are obviously knackered or cant be arsed - its just upto Reina to keep the score respectable.
  13. Have no idea how Terry didnt get a yellow for that, sums up the incompetent refereeing we have had this season

    Lucas

The problem is that today he isnt even doing the simple stuff well, normally you can count on him to be able to pass the ball about 5 yards. His limitations (and there are many) are well known, he slows down play too much, rarely passes the ball in a incisive way. I would play Masch and Gerrard in CM

He has found a whole new level of s**** today
  16. This makes for a depressing morning, anyone who thinks we are going to be able to attract a quality manager with our clubs situation is obviously not thinking right. We are going to be left with s**** like MON or Mcleish, these guys have no class or pedigree. There is no way Jose will come here when he only has about 29p to spend....oh yes plus whatever he raises in sales. We have had a terrible season but I honestly think Rafa deserves one more to try and put it right. However it would appear to me that purslow and co by not giving him the assurances he needs are trying to force him out the easy way, of his own volition. Therefore saving there ass financially...make way for the clueless chump that is MON!
  17. Cheers for that, interesting read.
  18. Yep, and took out a little extra for to get some new furniture in
  19. Looks that way to me, more short term borrowing.
  20. That article isnt that clear, so Barclays are going to refinance the loan...but at the same time it would appear that they have taken over the club on a short term basis until it can be sold, edit...i guess its just a refinance but they have appointed Broughton...like RBS appointed Purslow.
  21. Barclays rescues Liverpool BARCLAYS is to make a shock intervention at Liverpool FC, backing a £300m refinancing that will lead to the sale of the club. The bank is this weekend finalising a deal that will see it displace the club’s current lenders, provide additional funds to Rafa Benitez, the manager, and install as chairman Martin Broughton of British Airways. Barclays Capital has been hired to find a buyer. The move will dispel fears of a meltdown at Liverpool. The team’s owners, American businessmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett, have been at war over strategy and financing for more than a year. Fans have campaigned to oust the pair, and Benitez has had public disputes with them over spending on players. The club faces an imminent cash crisis. It has outstanding loans of £237m and its lenders, Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia, an American bank, have demanded £100m by July. Related Links * Football debts threat to World Cup bid * Red Knights bid for United gains credence Barclays, the main sponsor of the Premier League, will replace RBS and Wachovia, and provide the club with additional capital. “The club’s finances are improving. It just needs breathing space to get itself into shape before it is sold,” one adviser working on the deal said yesterday. Hicks and Gillett have agreed to Broughton’s appointment. A former head of BAT, the tobacco giant, and the British Horseracing Authority, he is chairman of British Airways, where he has been grappling with cabin crew strikes. Banking sources said last night that Broughton had been given the job of steering through the refinancing, resolving the rift between Hicks and Gillett, and, with Barclays Capital, finding a new owner. Analysts have suggested that Liverpool is worth £500m but Barclays is understood to believe it would fetch far more if given time to improve its trading. “Broughton is the kind of international business figure who will be able to bring in the standard of bidders Liverpool should attract,” one source said. Barclays’ move highlights English football’s troubled finances. Several top clubs are struggling under the burden of high player wages and crippling debts. Portsmouth became this year the first Premier League club to go into administration. Fans have rebelled against foreign owners who bought in at the height of the football boom. Manchester United supporters want to oust the Glazer family, the American investors who bought the club in 2005. Wealthy City financiers have formed a consortium, the Red Knights, to buy out the Glazers. Hicks and Gillett bought Liverpool in 2007 from the Moores family for £219m. The family sold up because they hoped to secure backing to build a new stadium that would allow Liverpool to compete with on better terms with United. The scheme has been dogged with delays, however, with Hicks and Gillett blaming the banking crisis for their inability to finance construction. The club has been talking to potential investors for several months including an American private equity fund, Rhone Group. It offered to buy a 40% stake in the club for £116m. Hicks and Gillett’s dealings with senior Liverpool executives have proved difficult. Rick Parry, who had been chief executive of the club for 12 years, quit last June after a deterioration in his relationship with Hicks.
  22. Maybe he thinks she is David Copperfield in disguise?
  23. 4th is definitely gone now, it wouldnt be so bad if if we had got results against City & Wigan, we just need to start accepting it and move on. I just hope that we actually have some money to invest and get in some players. We need widescale changes.
  24. The problem is that Torres is having to feed off scraps as there is no link between midfield and attack, we need to drop that toothless t*** Lucas and play Gerrard in Central Midfield. Play AA behind Torres, and start playing Babbel more. We need out and out wingers, pace directness and someone to carry the ball.
