"Tell you what Roy, you want to be looking at this lad Quaresma. Once he steps up to a big club, he's going to take the world by storm - better than Ronaldo."
Bit of a shame, really. That season when Sociedad ran Madrid to the last day in the title race (after being relegation fodder previously) was brilliant. Great side - Alonso, Karpin, De Pedro, Kovacevic, Nihat...
Rafa will get sacked. Don't see how much longer he can hang on. Inter have had terrible luck with injuries, but more than that I think that Rafa's trying to alter Inter's approach so drastically (probably in part due to the ongoing ego-duel with Mourinho) has massively unbalanced them. Shame really.
Right, asked this on Twitter a few weeks back but got no response, so asking here... Whatever happened to Raynald Denoueix? Not suggesting him as a candidate, but I have no idea what happened to the guy after Real Sociedad.
He's the most interesting candidate to me, but it's purely based on things I've read and his profile/background. Can't claim to have watched Porto much this season, but at the same time he's doing a very impressive job and his rise could be meteoric if he keeps on the same course.
Spurs were flat and there for the taking today. We didn't take the chances we had and paid for it. I was worried when we reverted to sitting and countering in the second half, we were asking for what we got in the end.
It will be purely his injury record. We had offered him a pay as you play deal which he'd refused. He's not got the athleticism of an Ashley Cole or Maicon, but he's a thoroughbred footballer - great technique, passing and intelligence.
Those Mourinho quotes he's referring to were only ever uttered as another dig (an untrue one at that) at our former manager in their ongoing feud. The fact that our current manager is using them to back himself is disgraceful.
Parker is very good at running about a lot and throwing himself into tackles without really considering his position on the pitch - a very old-school English type of midfielder. He'd get found out at a higher level (same as the likes of Cattermole), not that we're in any immediate danger of returning to a higher level. But consider the fact that the England national team has been crying out for a top-class ballwinner and he's never seriously been considered.
Ha. Didn't ask. That said, we were buying Poulsen from Juventus rather than Aalesunds FK - Karlsen was talking more about the pricing/value of players coming from the Scandinavian leagues.
Yep. Well, former Roma. Could just imagine the press over here having a collective hernia over his Roma 4-6-0 formation (which, for the record, was very attacking).
Cry. No.1 would have been one of the best goals ever had Dirk kept his volley down. The passing/movement reminds me of the goal Aimar scored against us at the Mestalla all those years back. Aquilani involved in some fantastic football. Video also highlights just why Gerrard is at his best playing between the lines.
