  2. Was at the game. Not sure I can add a lot more to wat people saw on TV. Dossena did not impress on his debut was caught out of poistion a few times but not going to extrapolate from one friendly performance. First timke I've seen Insua and he looked to have a great tpuch. Pacheco also impressed. Saw him before game and thought it was odd that the ball boys were wearing Liverpool training tops! He looks about 13. The match reinforced just how many options he have in the centre of defence and in central midfield. Otherwise, interesting to note that Dirk seemed to be the fan favourite in the absence of Gerrard and Torres, got huge cheers every time he moved on the touch line or to and from the dressing room. I also had the dubious distinction of seeing him in only his white y-fronts as I waited outside the dressing room for some interviews. Spoke to Degen - seems a very nice guy and very excited at being at Liverpool - Agger and Mascherano. Judging from what was said all interviews I heard in mixed zone it seems that Keane signing is being taken for granted by the players.

  7. Dossena latest from Irish Times Here Dossena delighted with Anfield move Friday, June 6, 2008 Liverpool are on the verge of signing Andrea Dossena and the Udinese full-back is delighted he will be the first Italian international to play for Liverpool. Dossena will complete his move to Anfield in the coming days after undergoing a medical on Merseyside earlier this week and his agent Federico Pastorello has revealed his client's delight at signing for Liverpool. "I understand he is the first Italian international to play for Liverpool - a great opportunity for him and he is really happy," Pastorello said today. Dossena is expected to finalise his transfer in the next 48 hours before being unveiled by the club next week in a deal believed to be worth around €8.9 million. "He had his medical on Wednesday and we are just awaiting the formalities of that but we would think everything will be signed very shortly," he continued. "An agreement between the clubs was hard, but we all found it and everything is now ready." The 26-year-old had a tremendous campaign with Udinese, which included his debut for Italy, and Pastorello admits Liverpool beat a number of clubs to seal his signature. "There were many teams interested in him," he confirmed. "He was the best left-back in Italy last year, arguably along with the boy (Juan) Vargas at Catania. "So it was natural that there will be interest in the best left-back in Serie A, but to have the chance to work with a coach like Rafa Benitez was something he could not turn down. "That was an important aspect of his decision and he cannot wait to get started."
  8. Quaresma shows hows its done Quaresma on Training Ground
  9. We got les Gems. Oh
  10. Great post. Few observations. 1) How red was our kit. Positively glowed. 2) Dudek completely outpsyched them. His save from Pirlo was amazing. 3) What a penalty from Smicer. He was under amazing pressure as they had just came back from 2-0 to 2-2. If he had missed, it would have been advantage Milan. 4) By the start of next season, all the main penalty protagonists will be gone from the club: Hamann, Cissé, Riise, Smicer, Dudek. 5) Rafa looked about 15 years younger then.
  11. Its the warm-up version. Finals game version goes live on 30 May. Should be around 500,000 million teams
  12. Some sad slapper
  13. We should be going for him instead of Barry. Lots of aggression, stamina and can hit the target repeatedly

  15. Drenthe was the player of the championships while Babel won the official man of the match in the final. I remember arsenal were strongly linked to him around the time of the final. Not sure what has happened Drenthe in Madrid but he certainly has the attributes to a very dynamic left back for us He's not in the provisional Dutch squad for EURO either - Kuyt and Babel are.
  16. A few years ago, Young Boys and BATE Borisov were two of the three teams left in a UEFA Cup qualifying round draw. Alas, they were not to be paired together. Assuming a Swiss win, I already had my match report headline composed Young Boys master BATE
  17. A good recent one We need to talk about Kevin
  18. I remember buying a copy before the City end-of-season defeat a few years ago when Schmeichel played a blinder. Ended up meeting Houllier after the game and he almost turfed me out of his office when he saw it. Had a particularly cutting caption on Heskey on the front. Before the web, fanzines were the only way Irish reds like I was then could keep up to date with the real stories even at a few weeks' remove.

  23. I had the misfortune of being in the main stand surrounded by them. One chelsea c*** spent the whole second half berating an asian fan a few rows in front "get that scarf off, you're not a chelsea fan" until during extra time the lad snapped and stood up to him almost got my head caved in for not cheering when essien "scored" and smiling when it was disallowed almost hoping for a united win now...almost the build up to kick off was like a kids birthday party at mcdonalds. pathetic, small time club ( I had my free flag on seat too)
  24. Jurgen Klinsmann must have told them
