  8. Dunno if this has been posted. Got this mailed to me about fourth-hand so can't vouch for its reliability but I'll throw into the mix anyway Mark this date in your calenders – February 18th 2008. Massive press conference being planned at Anfield as we speak. The club has been sold to DIC for 375 million pounds that will give the current owners $710 million – a $70 million profit. Al Ansari, CEO of DIC has completed his due diligence. The players and staff were made aware of this prior to the Luton game. Rafa's job is safe but he has to bring in an assistant, this will be Gary McAllister. Rick Parry who offended members of DIC last year, will 'step down' and the new owners will bring in David Dein as a replacement. No more money will be available for transfer's in the January window as the current owners will not sanction any deals, unless players are sold. The Summer will see massive player investment from DIC, believed to be in the region of 85 million + whatever is made from player sales. This could see a transfer budget of around 115 million. This is not a rumour, this is all l egit. Remember who told you the Americans had bought the club, four days before it was released and who let you guys know that Fernando Torres had signed a deal a full week before the press even got wind of it.

  12. Vote here Voting has begun for the uefa.com users' Team of the Year 2007. The poll, now in its seventh edition, gives the users of uefa.com, Europe's football website, the chance to select a team of players who have made their mark in European football over the last 12 months. Top 60 Sixty players and managers have been nominated for 12 positions, including coach, and after voting closes on 11 January the final side will be announced on 14 January on uefa.com. The nominees were chosen by uefa.com staff writers on the basis of their daily coverage of football throughout Europe. The players were selected on the strength of their performances for club and country in 2007. Popular poll The uefa.com Team of the Year is not intended to rival more established awards, and does not bear the official UEFA imprimatur. Nevertheless, it has proved hugely popular with fans, and nearly 12 million votes have been cast in previous polls with the 2006 version attracting 3,887,556 votes registered by 323,963 users. Charity donations uefa.com and UEFA will be donating money to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) 'Score for the Red Cross' appeal as part of the uefa.com users' Team of 2007. Users can also make donations to the appeal should they wish after voting. Under the Score for the Red Cross appeal, the long-standing partnership between UEFA and the ICRC will continue at UEFA EURO 2008™ next summer. The fundraising campaign will enable football fans to buy virtual goals for their teams online. The ICRC will use the money raised to support landmine victims in Afghanistan. Milan lead way European champions AC Milan have the most nominees with ten, while UEFA Champions League runners-up Liverpool FC have five. English title-holders Manchester United FC received eight nominations, two more than Chelsea FC, and two-time UEFA Cup winners Sevilla FC, Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona have five apiece. In total, 17 clubs have players nominated while the currently unattached Fabio Capello is in the running for the coach award. New generation The uefa.com site manager Adrian Harte said: "It was again a difficult task to select a group of nominees this year, with some excellent UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup and UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying performances. One thing we noticed this year was a changing of the guard with a new generation of young players emerging in 2007. We are again confident that this list highlights the best players and coaches in 2007 and we can't wait to see who our users consider worthy for inclusion in their Team of the Year."

  19. Sound fella. I bumped into him after THE Olympiacos match and he invited me out for drinks with him and Jim Beglin. Went on a huge session taking in the Liverpool legands-packed Living Room and then Aldo´s Place where I ended up drinking with Fowler and McManaman Agree with what most of what is said here about RTE but I just laught it off as they've all - especially Dunphy - became such parodies of themselves.

  25. How good is Lindfield? I saw a bit of him last pre-season and he looked a decent poacher. My mate is a County fan and they're very excited about singing the "new Fowler".
