    Yes. Hansen and Lawrenson the best partnership; Hansen and VVD the all-time XI choice. Second Liverpool game I ever attended, away v West Ham in 1987, he made a mistake and Cottee scored. It was so unusual, it was the headline the next day.

    Is is the lead piece on the Guardian site now. completely one sided narrative. It’s an error like a throw-in awarded the wrong way is an error. No mention of the passage of time either.     It made it into the Dale Johnson VAR review. Couldn’t believe it. There was nothing in it.

    In the Fulham game tonight on NBC, Jon Champion and Lee Dixon were commenting on the very precise language and clear messages been given by VAR on the feed they hear. Interestingly they said they don’t hear the ref’s side of the conversation but they hear VAR asking the ref what he saw etc. Dixon said it absolutely was not like that on Saturday.

    NBC glossed over the offside - “ we’re told it’s offside” and both pundits were adamant it was a red.

    You do have to wonder how we do pre-game this season. Are we too tight or too loose? Why do we give up the early goals? Even Thiago was sloppy at the start.

    That’s great, thanks! Couple things; Phil Neal was great. Passing, positioning. Ruined by that Graham Taylor video ‘yes boss’. Souness was imperious. No one challenged him. Thompson dives in, acts nervous. Also been my impression of him. Johnson much better than I remembered. Reminds me of Kuyt. He is everywhere. Alan Curtis of Swansea was a good player.

    Poor coach, no real central striker for the US. Plenty of possession and lots of decent players. Tyler Adams really stands out.
