I’d have sold Lucho last summer but think he’s had a brilliant season and hope he renews now. He always worked hard and was a wiling runner but he has added more end product under Slot. Also he has shown versatility playing both left side and up front, and avoided injuries. He has been consistent and influential in our title win. And his Dad has shut up too.

‘A good day for bad news’

I guess with Chiesa it’s simply that Arne only sees him as a right sided player and Mo has very little down time. I’d have liked to see him up front a bit based on Jota and Nunez’s form second half of the season myself. The run and way he took his goal at Wembley backed that up. He is a talented player and his attitude seems to have been exemplary considering the circumstances. I think Diaz has overall had a great season, don’t want to sell him now and he’s able to play right across the front three. His work rate and willingness to run at defenders has been a big plus this year. He makes things happen. Gakpo is brilliant we have missed him at his best. One of our best finishers with Mo and again direct, puts defenders on the back foot. Was watching his runs on Sunday and he looked a nightmare to play against. For me Nunez first choice sale, Jota second and keep the rest. But if he just chose to sell Nunez and replace with a top number 9 or Bobby type I’d be fine with that. You don’t want too much change at once.

Hes not dictating anything to the club, its not for the club to announce him leaving. He’ll be saying to the club that he might still sign. It’s Madrid who will be keeping quiet on the announcement at his request.
-
He’s leaving and he’s told Madrid that in return for doing us over on a transfer fee he doesn’t want to announce it before the end of the season, as he doesn’t want the grief. This is clearly the most obvious explanation and I’d be absolutely staggered if it’s anything else. Apparently Henry was telling him to ‘do the right thing and tell them’ after the game on Sunday. I’m glad our fans have risen above it and supported him to the end, but I don’t think the memories will be as fond as they should be after he goes. He’s sold out his legacy. The chat thing, switch advert and pretending he might stay, added to him running his contract down and leaving to a club that has been our nemesis (plus the most arrogant, entitled club on the planet) means there will be a sour taste. He’ll be in the Owen-McMananan bucket.

He’s really served the team as a pressing machine this season, but I think he’s capable of even more as a footballer. I think the talent is there to be more than that.

Agree about Madrid / Modric. Perfect time for a new 6 year deal and a pay rise.

Having absolutely robbed them at their place we had a great chance to win the tie at home for sure, they were wobbling early on and then in the second half. But if they could finish (and Ali wasn’t so f*cking majestic) the tie would have been over in Paris. They are a really good team on a roll, -
Absolutely love him, such a gifted, creative footballer but does all the hard yards and puts his body on the line for the team. Feels like he’s a perfect fit for us.

Sky put some stats up earlier - our performance in the first and second half of the season has been virtually identical in terms of numbers. Shots and shots against, XG, distance covered (108 to 107km pg), points etc. Its really interesting as the eye test says we were much better up to January, but statistically the numbers say we have been remarkably consistent throughout.
-
Yeah he did leave a good squad but it’s not THAT good. Not 15 points clear, champs with 4 games left if we win on Sunday good. Everyone is saying we need 4 or 5 players (I think we do). The stars have aligned I guess, especially the City drop off. Jurgen never got that apart from the one season we were even more relentless than them. Arsenal feel like they gave up after they lost to WHU and we beat City. I think Slot has done a serious job keeping this team on track though, and getting results even when they have looked tired (since the PSG games especially). Really looking forward tj seeing what he can do with some signings.
-
Still can’t get my head around him winning the league in his first season with basically no signings. Madness.
-
Apparently a massive Liverpool fan! So a Manc fan tells me.
-
Yeah defo different. I’d actually be annoyed with Klopp if he even went to Madrid now (which is of course kind of unreasonable but it’s how I’d feel) but very much doubt he would enjoy being part of that circus.
-
It’ll be when we got 97 points and came second surely? If we win out (and our fixtures are friendly) we’ll get 94 points. No arguing with that, would be 6th highest ever. It is absolutely mental that 3 out of the top 8 highest point tallies in PL history are Klopp’s Liverpool and only one of those actually won the title. Absolute sickener. Lost 6 total games across those 3 seasons.

The rumour wind seems to be changing a little with Trent. Regardless of everything I’d still love to keep him. I wonder if winning the title plus Madrid being so poor lately may make him do a late u-turn?
-
Slot would have loved Matip’s ability to stride out with the ball and play a positive pass. I miss Joel.
-
Mad we were still right in the mix this late, if you’d asked me I’d have said we’d fallen away by now. That Palace loss ruined us, the chances we missed in that game were insane. I knew City would win out anyway.
-
I think Mbappe signing has negatively affected Bellingham. He was basically playing up front last year. They looked awful against Arsenal, just crossing it into the box over and over. Like watching peak Wimbledon.
-
I liked Dortmund Bellingham but he’s completely disappeared up his own ars*hole since joining Madrid.
-
Wasn’t Ancelotti supposed to go to manage Brazil previously then changed his mind?
-
Well we are away.
