Everyone who sees this in a negative light seems to be coming from a position where they see it hard to see the club and institution they love as a commodity/brand. I feel the same way. But everything has a price nowadays, apparently that includes even supporters. If Liverppool can get more revenue from attaching themselves to a person or a brand and use that increased revenue to buy better players, or build better infrastructure to help with success I'm for that. But it's still icky at best. I mean this whole LeBron James thing is ridiculously simple-minded: "He's great and I like him. Oh look, he likes Liverpool. Therefore I like Liverpool. He's shown more promise than Warnock or PFK, and is more defensively sound than Insua. That isn't difficult. Do you actually think we're going to be buy anyone good enough? We have too many first team positions to fill and too many squad players to replace. Hopefully some of the more promising youngsters are actually used as squad players. That would save money and for a change let us develop some youth players. We don't have sugar daddies in FESV, or NSV or whatever the f*** abbreviation these Americans are using, they aren't going to plop down 10 million quid for a left back, centre back, two wide midfielders, a centre midfielder and another forward. Plug glaring gaps, add one or two stars a season. Plus ca change. Moving to rural Virginia can put a dent in online communication, and match watching. Although my neighbours just got satellite that has FSC so I should see more games than I currently do since I can't stream any matches.

Gerrard is not an enganche. It'd be madness to rely on him in that position. It might work slightly better if you switched him and Cole, but only just. We don't have anyone who can play that role well enough.

I would like to preface my comment with this: "Rafa is my choice for manager, I support him and normally agree with most of what he says and does." Robbie Keane was a mistake. It disturbs the partnership that developed last season between Torres and Gerrard. I said this to friends at the the time of the signing. I thought what Rafa was thinking might be made clear at a later date. You know, maybe Gerrard would be played at right mid with Keane behind Torres, or something else which shoehorned the new expensive signing in there. Now, I think Keane wasn't a Rafa signing, if that isn't the case, I'm severely worried.

Ramos can obviously pick a player, who better to fill the gap in creativity that's been there since Robinho left?

I agree with you about Keane in a lone role. Which is why it would've been nice to see him come on for Benayoun, switch Gerrard to the right (nominally) and have Keane play off Kuyt.
