I wonder if we started playing deep on purpose, gives our forwards more room to run at the Wolves defense while it compensates for our own slow defenders. So often we've seen teams come to Anfield and play deep and with little to no space between their midfield and defense, but we really are stretching them, and now that they need to attack it's just going to keep happening.

We're stretching them well and have been very direct, some good running from Carroll and Suarez, I'd like to see Downing get on the ball some more.

Bellamy by his own account can't do 90 minutes twice in a week, so it's probably fair for this game that he just be on the bench. Personally, I'd like to Maxi start most games Suarez does, and Adam deserves to be dropped after Spurs, so yeah, Spearing should get a start with Gerrard to replace him later for match fitness and quite a lot of game changing.

He's asking you to look at it differently. In fact more like a manager would look at it. The intelligent work off the ball from Suarez for the peno and Carroll against Valencia 'created' opportunities. You think Kenny only says "good job" if it's a proper 'created' goal?

Change the system a bit and play Ramsey and Wilshere in the centre? Maybe with Song and Diaby, or even Eboue in there. It's all a little desperate over there, he needs to sign a new Petit and Vieria, never mind a CB and a keeper.

I hadn't really focused on our fixtures much yet so that's a very good point, I like our run in too. Against almost all the teams in the league we will be asking more questions of them than they do of us and Kenny will be able to build the self belief that our past 3 (5?) managers couldn't maintain. I guess I also think we can win it (but I don't want to fall into the trap of "this is our year, every year"), but I feel like it's more likely we'll be in third, but very close to the top two. Instead of being lumped in with Spurs, Everton and possibly Arsenal, we've moved into the front trio, and that's great because this is just meant to be a year of consolidation and planning.

i agree with this. We've signed some good players, don't have Europa distractions and Kenny had us playing some great stuff last year even without Suarez. Arsenal still haven't signed a keeper, a top centre half and any midfielders who aren't young exciting wingers, so I can see us beating them to 4th. Chelsea's a tougher one to predict, if H0 ouuse-Snake is as good as last year with Porto suggests he could get good performances out of that aging side, especially if Torres' legs aren't really gone. The Mancs both have some weaknesses, but people wrote off United before last season, although I'm surprised they still haven't signed a holding midfielder... and City apparently aren't even done giving Mancini silly money this window so they're the teams to beat.
