I think it was certainly a factor, and an easy concession to negotiate given his injuries, but there's no evidence we looked at anyone else for that role (except possibly Barry second time around), so I think he was definitely near the top of the list.

It sure is worrying what's happening on the pitch, but even more worrying is the speed with which people seem willing to kick Rafa out - it's only 6 months since we achieved our record points total, finishing ahead of Chelsea whose resources make ours look like a joke, and were absolutely hammering some very good sides. The man deserves support, but from too many he's getting s***. A sickening level of fickleness. What amazes me is that the Yanks are here for one reason - to make money - yet they seemingly know more about football than alot of our supporters, and at least have the decorum not to stick the knife into the manager in public. THAT is a sobering comparison people.
