  1. He states as fact that the Barry deal is done - £9m + add-ons - but that's all. The guy hates Rafa with a passion so he then says IF Alonso goes it proves that Rafa isn't acting in the interests of the club, We are light in centre midfield now that Gerrard has moved forward. Hopefully that means Barry will not be replacing anyone.
  2. Alonso Agger Kuyt
  3. I think Babel will play and Benayoun as well. Rafa has to combat the man-marking of Gerrard which left Torres isolated and I reckon he will adopt a fluid system with the forward players inter-changing positions to drag their markers out wide leaving space for others to exploit. I hope Rafa starts with Agger but it was worrying to see him going down with cramp on Saturday and he may not have had time to recover
  4. We seem to have let this recent surge of attacking brilliance, sweeping all aside, go to our heads. After we scored, we lost all the compactness that has made us into the team everyone fears in Europe. We made it far too easy for Chelsea to find space in our half, stopped pressing and lost far too many 50:50s in all areas of the pitch. And our back four were woeful unfortunately. Credit to Chelsea for seizing on our mistakes but this was not the Liverpool we know under Rafa in Europe. The really worrying aspect was Carra's performance. We need to keep Agger and next season there is no way Carra should play every game. He has to be rested more and allow the Skretl/Agger partnership to develop.
  5. Dont be so defeatist, they still have a few difficult games and I dont expect them to steamroller any team from now to the end of the season if we crank on the pressure. We have an early kick off next week, if we win that then its back onto them isnt it. They looked like cracking today, I think its only a matter of time to see when they crack again.
  6. I think your being a bit hard on Barry there!
  7. What's all the fuss, he's only got cramp http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...090331-1341.htm
  8. There's still a couple of hours to dream on until the Echo comes out with a swift rebuttal from Barrett. Eto'o is truly world class and could undoubtedly play with Gerrard & Torres but it's not that simple, how many times have we been able to field both G & T this season? And when they haven't played we are a completely different side. It worries me that Stevie G is now in his late twenties and with his phenomenal output there must come a time when he will need to be rested more or will succumb to more & more injuries. He is not the type to stroll through games conserving energy, it won't happen. Torres has had his share of injuries too, and we know from Owen's time that we have to be careful with lightning-fast strikers with problems over hamstrings. Our strike force without Gerrard & Torres is what exactly? Kuyt? N'gog? Babel? They can do a job but we massively lose potency. Keane was supposed to be the one to provide cover for both positions but was useless. Eto'o is several classes above. But there again, by mid-day the speculation will be scotched no doubt
  9. Wow, that's one reporter who doesn't pull his punches!! If all that is true, Gillett is history. And as Barrett say, it is no coincidence that both our owners put their other assets up for sale at the same time they are being squeezed and have to find a shedload of cash before July

  11. I normally agree with you about a player Fred but not this time. Barry is a top class player in the classic Benitez mold (consistent, reliable, intelligent, adaptable, hardworking, mentally strong & no ego) and would undoubtedly strengthen the squad. I like Lucas but Barry would be an improvement and give us balance. He is very strong on the ball, rarely concedes possession, gets forward and has great delivery. He would be a valuable addition to the side, no question and will probably be available at a much more sensible price
  12. maybe its just their accent
  13. I'd love to see a statistic concerning goals we concede in the 5 to 10 minutes after scoring under Benitez, I'd be highly surprised if it was in double figures. If a hack like Collymore wants to see reason why Benitez doesnt lose his head after we score its that.
  14. Seann William Scott aka Stifler (American Pie)
  15. Villa were tactically inept, O'Neill is clueless. They tried to play 4-2-4 with no holding midfielder against a rampant Liverpool and left huge gaps high up the pitch for us to exploit. They were so scared of Torres' pace they put Cuellar & Davies on him leaving acres of space for us "between the lines" and Reo-Coker as a right back was hilariously bad plus Young as a right footed left back was a fish out of water. It's a shame we declared at 5, it could have been any score we liked after that if we hadn't been so keen to set up Torres when Kuyt in particular was completely unmarked in the box. And what about the passes for the 2 penalties? Kuyt with a 40 yd crossfield ball over Reo-Coker for Riera to take in his stride; then Alonso's sublime through ball straight down the middle for Torres. Sweet. We are so much more clinical at key points in the game at the moment, that's the main difference from earlier in the season and it's all about confidence
  16. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...z-signs-on.html Wheater!!! And no striker? The rest are good calls though, very possible but Barry won't cost £15m with just a year left on his contract
  17. Made up, Rafa can finally plan for the future and we can relax and let him get on with it. We are in great hands, shame the owners haven't f***ed off but at least they have seen some sense at last.
  18. Sabre was usually the 1st to have a go at "Stevie Me" if he dared to have a slightly off day. Used to wind me up big time and got me my only warning on this site for abusing another poster. It's great to hear he is finally getting his due recognition & Tony Evans' odd article suggesting he wasn't loved by the Kop is made to look even more bizarre. Love his new anthem as well, class.
  19. Torres' injury is just a badly sprained ankle (why the f*** they let him play on for 60 mins on one leg in Madrid the doctor only knows) not a muscle strain so provided the swelling has gone down he should be OK to start. We need his pace to play on the counter so now is not the time to wrap him up in cotton wool
  20. Pretty nervous too, hate to see all the hard work in Madrid undone by an injury crisis and a negative mindset filtering into the team and the crowd. We have to be cautious when they have possession but if we are set up to hit on the counter we should be capable of a goal or two. Our problem all season has been teams playing defensively & deep and we won't face that tonight.
  21. Or maybe not.... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/7...before-he-buys/
  22. This guy http://www.soccerclips.net/en/videos/play/?504E2f54A4f I think we will find that Arbeloa will go back to Spain in the summer, just a hunch
  23. You may be right but it won't be RBS as chief lender, no chance. Their strategy is to divest themselves of huge, top-end, leveraged debt in favour of traditional retail banking. Their days of pumping £100m + into single enterprises are gone.
  24. Barry, Johnson & Villa in. Arbeloa, Dossena, Voronin out.
  25. It's pointless now but firstly Moores didn't sell the club for £400m or anything like that & secondly G&H managed to buy us without putting a brass farthing into the club so why would that rule out Morgan?
