I think you will get your wish...in fact it could be another 500 pages yet http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1263361/Liverpool-takeover-Deadline-extended-potential-buy-owners-Hicks-Gillett.html

If he's leaving because of no money at Villa, why would (a) he want to come here and (b) we want him? Or © he is f*******g useless but G&H can't get Klinsman
-
Was it me or did Kenwyne Jones look a bit of a fatty when he came on? I always thought he was a tall, skinny dude but he looked more like Lennox Lewis from halfway up the Kop

Sounds like there is some serious brinkmanship going on between Hicks & RBS/Purslow. Apparently there are 2 well-resourced investors who want a full takeover/majority share but Purslow for some reason is favouring the 40% Rhone bid while Hicks is rejecting every proposal put to him. The fallback for the club is for RBS to call in the debt and then sell to whomsoever they want. Hicks is still saying no. The longer this drags on, the more chance that RBS will have to force the issue because relations are on the point of breaking down completely between the club and the owners, or at least one of them.

For too many of our lads, playing for Liverpool is enough
beejay replied to JonShar 's topic in Liverpool FC
FFS Rafa, with what's left of this season let's have a go and start the preparations for next year. Cast off all the inhibitions, ditch the cautionary tactics that have failed all season long and be positive. Reina, Johnson, Carra, Kyrgiakos, Agger, Maxi, Aquilani, Mascherano, Babel, Gerrard, Torres Subs : Cavalieri, Kelly, Insua, Benayoun, Kuyt, Pacheco, Dalle Valle Give Kelly, Pacheco & Dalle Valle some playing time. Score a few goals and bring some creativity & entertainment back there's nothing to lose now, we are f*cked anyway. -
He's off then http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/Italian-report-Benitez-to-take-Liverpool-stars-Torres-and-Mascherano-to-Juventus/6655/

Howard Webb appointed for Manchester United v Liverpool
beejay replied to Andy @ Allerton 's topic in Liverpool FC
This is the way it works http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7073616.stm Howard Webb was an excellent unbiased ref in his early days but then he is instructed on how to become the top referee in the country. Since then he has become the country's first line FIFA ref and is regularly given all the big games. The system is corrupt, no question about it. Chelsea managed to break the manc stranglehold on the title by Mourinho adopting an even more strident take on the officials than Ferguson. After every game he would scream blue murder and sure enough they would fall in line. Rafa tried to play this game a year ago but it backfired because he isn't very good at it. This year he has retreated into either sarcasm or not commenting at all and the fact is that we have really suffered from terrible refereeing all season. -
There is more chance of RBS stepping in, that's their default position. That doesn't mean administration because we are not insolvent but it would mean the bank taking the shares in lieu of the loans. The club carries on with Purslow running it while the bank can then sell without G&H sticking their oar in. That's better than Hicks bringing in the hedge funds to pay off RBS
-
You keep saying this but the point is that we have a great chance of ridding ourselves of these 2 shysters once and for all because RBS have them over a barrel. But a 3 way carve-up with yet another yank profiteer is close to the worst possible outcome.

The Effect of Rafa leaving the Club this summer (or before)
beejay replied to Andy @ Allerton 's topic in Liverpool FC
That's not true, there were at least 2 Kop-led chants last night. -
We've already signed his replacement ie Jovanovic so Riera is a gonner. He knows it and is playing like he can't be arsed anymore. Turan is right footed - would love to sign him, he would be one of Torres' "4 or 5 top class signings"
-
The Blairs will be at that level pretty soon the way they are going and Cherie is a big red . But then again they are more neo-con than leftie anyway
-
Link doesn't work for me - can you paraphrase what was said?

We always win in Rhone
-
This smacks of the same sleep-walking welcome we gave to Gillett & Hicks when they came in. We knew they were in it for a profit but so what, they would transform the commercial side, build the new stadium and there would be plenty left for a big transfer kitty and some dividends for them. Rhone will put in £100m from a capital fund with the money coming from investors who are promised high returns. Their plan is almost certainly to open up the finance for the new stadium and to stick around long enough to maximise the profit, which probably means keeping the club in a top 4 position. So far, so good. But what happens then? They (Rhone, Gillett & Hicks) will sell to the highest bidder who pound to a penny will be to a Glaser on a leveraged buy-out leaving us with massive debts. They might even decide to do that themselves to extract their profit. We are already on a cycle of debt, courtesy of G&H buying us with our own money. Luckily for us, RBS are calling the shots and we have a second opportunity to break that cycle by finding an investor who has our long term interests at heart. But that definitely won't be Rhone or anyone else cut from the same cloth.
-
He also scores goals and in the last few outings the penny finally seems to have dropped and his work rate has gone up in leaps & bounds. That was well enjoyable, fabulous entertainment at times - a commodity which has been missing for most of the season.
-
No-one thinks we should stand still. Personally, I would much rather we stay at an expanded Anfield than move to a new stadium but if that's what it takes to help us compete, so be it. But we have already made one monumental error of judgement when Moores & Parry sold out to G&H and we can't run any risks of taking short-term money from the same sort of vultures. I have a measure of faith in RBS & Purslow to do the right thing. They are a lot more clued up than Moores & Parry and won't be charmed into a deal by snake oil salesmen. To answer the point you keep making - the Rhone group take in money from investors on the strength of promises of high returns. They have no asset base of their own and their focus is entirely on making big profits for their investors. All this stuff about the £110m investment will not be borrowed misses the point. Rhone won't be giving that money away, they will expect to recover it plus a massive premium at some point. If it goes wrong, they will asset strip us without any conscience whatsoever. The likes of DIC do have asset bases to fall back on and are proven long term investors. But that ship has sailed thanks to M&P. I'm still hoping there is someone else out there with an interest in us as a footbal club not another commodity. Word is that the Saudi people are still very interested.
-
These people are exactly the same as Hicks & Gillett. We have a chance to force the other 2 out at the moment because the debt is with RBS and G&H can't afford to pay them off. If these people join forces we will lose our last hope of avoiding permanent debt & a slow death. At least the echo mentions that this is the first of hopefully several offers. Amongst them might be someone with an ineterest beyond sucking us dry.

F******g hell, god or allah help us please if this goes through we are in even more sh*t than now
-
The only way he can stay is if he rips up this squad and starts again because he has lost too many players. That would mean a huge amount of faith being shown in him by his employers, whoever they may be.
-
That's a really good point. As much as I'm in despair about the sh*te served up all season and the blame I attach to the manager for not getting anywhere near enough out of the squad at his disposal, I still have a "better the devil you know" attitude. I would rather Rafa stays and is given the summer to weed out the wreckage of this season than sack him and appoint a no-mark like Hughes or Hodgson. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if we can't attract Mourinho or Capello to Anfield then Rafa should stay. After the unbelievable Klinsmann episode, I have no faith in our clueless owners to make the right choice and if Rafa does go and we bring in someone inferior I really fear that Souness could be right and we could be spiralling into mid-table oblivion for a generation.
-
The squad is unbalanced and F*** knows what is going on with the coaching & tactics, all of which are the manager's responsibility. We lack pace, power & athleticism hence why Wigan completely over-ran us all over the park. If all these little fellers of ours could pass & move we might be OK but they can't. And we are a joke at set pieces, a major part of the game today. It's gone beyond a car crash of a season, the f****in solar system has smashed into the galaxy Try repairing that for the start of next season with zero net spend somebody
-
Our owners are willing to sell at the moment while the Glasers aren't. How we have reached this point is mute because there are a number of factors involved but the hostility of the fans has undeniably played a part. One thing I do know is that the protests against G&H have been a big influence on the attitude of the bank and ultimately, they are the ones who call the shots.

Our campaign has a much better chance of succeeding than the mancs. And talking about embarrassing - what about the "Red F******g Knights". W*******s
