  1. there would be something faintly ludicrous about a 5 match ban for not throwing a punch and walking off slowly in a reserve match in which he'd been clogged all night. hope martin gets fit soon then
  2. french tv is generally what ours was like in the early 70s. in an appalling time-warp, so i shouldnt be surprised, but still
  3. if you listen to what the manager and players are saying, the key thing about last night, after the 3 points, was about building confidence. after the tough start, confidence is low, and we were never going to go all wenger/barcelona in our playing style. get real. the objective last night was 3 points, clean sheet. we achieved the objective. the meedjah who say it was uninspired etc miss the point. we're currently looking to place some building bricks, in the hope that we can get momentum going, get confidence up, and then start getting on a roll, playing nice football, looking the part. that's football that is.
  4. did everyone else find the camera work last night abysmal. i presume it was due to local production. makes you appreciate how good ours is Mainly: 1. The focus was too zoomed in, with the result on my telly that the ball-player was normally off screen, the ball just about on screen, and the focus on where the cameraman thought it would be going 2. Even then, as he was still too zoomed in, when there was a long pass, the cameraman would fail to react, and the pass would go off screen! 3. The cameraman/producer had a fondness of viewing attacking play from a side angle. i wouldnt mind if i had bought a ticket next to the corner flag and was soaking up the atmosphere, but if i'm watching on telly, i like to see my goal action from the view coming from behind the attacking team! 4. The cameraman/producer seemed nervy and there would be moments of quick switching between different angles all in all i felt it made it quite horrible to watch and i'm just glad it wasnt like that in a big match!
  5. so no-one's saying that he's remotely ready then....?
  6. is this just for experience/bare bones option, or is he remotely ready, and if so, in what position?
  7. given momo is "80%" reina finnan sami carra jar pennant momo xabi gonzalez garcia crouch
  8. if all available i'd expect the team to be reina finnan JC Agger Riise Gerrard Momo Alonso Aurelio Kuyt Bellamy Subs Dudek, Hyppia, Pennant, Crouch, Garcia
  9. "Why don't you tell the press that phuckwit Neville's to blame for looking for the easy way out. The whole nation hates him just as much as we do"
  10. apparently wenger loves him as a player but is concerned at the risk of whether a british kid would be able to adjust to his team

times says he's out of blackburn match...
  12. platini told gerard he was the new vieira
  13. wasnt this widely known at the time? i recalled (was it on signing or at a contract renewal) that it was publicly known that digger had said that he would sign for liverpool providing no italian clubs came in for him by a certain time, and that he then felt he had work to do to get the kop on his side stroke of genius by dalglish getting digger. despite the maracana, my recollection is that digger's inconsistency or reputation for it had put the other big boys off
  14. its not something you'd expect to go to a full judgment - dirty laundry and all that - but both parties will have already spent a lot on legals..
  15. its all for reebok to prove, isnt it. we say there was no reduced shirt sales, just a time lag. one would presume if reebok have taken it this far, they must feel they have evidence of lost shirt sales. presumably, they can say for an average season, they expect £x in revenue, of which £y comes in the first few months, and can compare that average season with the season in question. and we will counter that, and the lawyers will get richer....
  16. just seen that echo says it's a preliminary hearing... LIVERPOOL will launch their £7m lawsuit against Reebok at the High Court tomorrow. Proceedings of Liverpool FC versus Reebok International have been listed for the Royal Courts of Justice, in the Strand, London. However, the case is likely to drag on for several months, with tomorrow's date likely to be a preliminary hearing. The dispute between the Reds and their former shirt manufacturer began following a delay in the release of the Liverpool away jersey for the start of the 2005/06 season. This was caused by Liverpool's ongoing shirt sponsorship talks with Carlsberg. Reebok claimed they lost revenue worth £7m and refused to abide by the terms of the contract. Liverpool insists the delay of two months didn't cost Reebok revenue, it merely delayed the inevitable vast sale of shirts. Now the Reds want back what they insist they are entitled to. Reebok UK were taken over by Adidas last year, who subsequently inherited the terms of the Reds' existing shirt contract. However, Liverpool's dispute remains with the Reebok branch of the company, not their new partners.

Times says ct case starts today http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-2391413,00.html Liverpool in court Liverpool start a lawsuit against Reebok International, the sportswear manufacturer, at the Royal Courts of Justice in London today. The club claim they are entitled to £7 million that was withheld by Reebok at the start of the 2005-06 season, when Liverpool were forced to delay the release of their new away kit because of continuing negotiations with Carlsberg. Reebok claims that the sum withheld represented its lost revenue, but Liverpool will argue in court that the hold-up had little or no impact. Any London Reds going to public gallery?!

  20. i think he cant help but spout as he's embarrassed with what he's got to show for the last 3 years
  21. you'd have thought they'd want to bring their humiliation last year back up again. for them not to qualify from a weak group was shocking. and it wasnt even as though they were unlucky.
  22. i'd say carra's more likely to be rested against bolton. or finnan.
  23. i think the problem is the meejah just dont understand it. i think they are caught in a time-warp of 'strongest xi' and 'reserves', whereas rafa is genuinely of the 'strong squad' mentality. this rotation thing would have been a bigger thing a few years ago, but the stronger the squad is, the less it's an issue. the meejah just dont see that. i mean, gonzalez for pennant? sami for carra? crouch for kuyt? garcia for gonzalez? warnock for riise? aurelio for warnock> granted, some may be better than others, or in better form, but they're all decent players, all coached to a high level, all on rafa's tactical wavelength, so it's less of an issue than the lazy meejah realise. it's not like the days when mad erik or dundee or the lesser seen dio-dios or kozmas were back-up! it's also not like having o'shea as one of your leading midfielders, or ferrera as one of your main options at CB, or that lad arsenal loaned to sunderland last season at left back (who's been gash...)
  24. as i said, fowler, carra and gerrard above some of the greats outside of the top 10 doesnt make sense, nor does lawro at 34, to give some examples. there's two things about recent players: 1 the faded memories or lack of memories mean some people will choose carra higher than hansen, lawro, yeats etc. 2. the current ones havent yet finished their careers, so you're comparing apples and pears. plus of course the fact that players in the early 70s-90 period are probably the most successful in terms of big medals etc anyway.
  25. academic question i think - did we have the extra money for johnson and the other deals we had planned? bellamy will come good.
