  8. this is the interesting bit from the echo: "With Bellamy now close to becoming the most high profile capture of the summer so far, Benitez will now be hoping to resolve the long-running pursuit of Daniel Alves. Ideally, the Spanish boss would also like to recruit another striker, with Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt top of the wanted list. However, a deal for the Dutchman is currently wholly dependant on Liverpool raising significant funds in sales." hardly surprising to those of us who were not convinced we'd have funds for kuyt, pennant etc
  9. Barragan off to Depor? Sky: Depor chase Reds starlet By Mark Buckingham - Created on 19 Jun 2006 Deportivo La Coruna are looking to sign Liverpool teenager Antonio Barragan on loan. The Spanish defender linked up with The Reds last summer from Sevilla and made a big impression in the reserves. His sole first-team appearance came in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League against CSKA Sofia, but he is rated highly by Rafa Benitez. The versatile stopper, who turned 19 earlier this month, may again have a peripheral role to play in Benitez's plans for next season. To that end, reports in Spain claim Deportivo are willing to hand Barragan first-team experience by signing him on a season-long loan. Deportivo are restructuring their squad for next term and are awaiting a response from Liverpool regarding their enquiry.

  11. From Sporting Life: Bellamy: Should complete Anfield move BELLAMY SET TO SIGN FOR POOL Liverpool are set to sign Blackburn striker Craig Bellamy this week, but face competition from Arsenal. The Reds should complete the signing of the Welsh star when he returns from his honeymoon, after agreeing the deal to let Djibril Cisse go on loan to Marseille, according to reports. The 26-year-old has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Rovers for £6million but that clause is set to run out in two weeks and so Rafael Benitez will have to move fast if he wants to tie up the deal. Arsene Wenger is also rumoured to be interested in the former Newcastle man but Bellamy is said to be keen on a move to Anfield so he can remain in the North-West.

  15. Why do people believe we are going to sign Alves and Pennant? With money tight, I'm pretty sure it's one or t'other. I think a deal has been lined up with Pennant as insurance against it all falling apart with Alves. Otherwise, the Pennant deal would have been concluded by now. Betcha I'm right PS my personal view is that Rafa is looking to get, in addition to Aurelio, Gonzalez and Paletta, Alves, one striker, one central midfielder, and possibly a reserve keeper. My gut feel is that funds will not run further and so we might try and get sinama to stay for a while.
