I know they’re completely different sports and things don’t necessarily transfer, but this is one of those areas where learning from rugby would help - when the TMO intervenes the ref still actively watches the incident then collaborated with the TMO live while explaining their rational. Creates accountability, understanding of the decision reached for all concerned in real time (right or wrong) and is reasonably fast. Why refs aren’t mic’d up and get their own video screen to observe is beyond me. They demand respect - they’d get more if they were more transparent.

Long been a criticism of our teams - yet against Man Utd for the first time in a while I thought the team had real stature and the ability to intimidate. VVD and Konate laughing off Fred and co was great. A midfield heavyweight wouldn’t go amiss but the team isn’t the pushovers of old.
