Actually, no, I've mis-remembered. I actually just licked the blood off, wiped it on my jeans and carried on without any further palaver.

I always think that it's part of the manager's job to deflect attention and scrutiny away from the team and individual players, but when he's deflecting away from himself it just sounds like he's washing his hands of any responsibility.

They should give it the TAW lads til the end of the season. They seem to have the solution to everything when they do all the analysis stuff.

Feels now like he's making it very hard to engage with a thing I love. And I can't really give him anything back because of that.

Yeah same here. From day one I found it hard to take to him but I liked the way he dealt with the press and he said a lot of good things, and obviously for about 7 months the results were great. But the results have fallen through the floor, the performances have been atrocious and his ability to say the right thing has dropped off a cliff. Abd then re-emerged as a defiantly "anyone but me" bluster. So I could take the not being that arsed about him when the football was all OK and the public persona seemed a like a decent front, but when that all falls away, all I'm left with is a bloke I feel nothing for. Can't wait 'til he's gone.

I prefer... But yeah, you're right. I'm as guilty as anyone in that I spent the whole of the Ferguson years laughing at every little micro blip in the scum's march towards yet another trophy and it made me feel validated but in reality I probably just looked like a churlish blimp. It works both ways though, there is a big tendency on here (and TAW are massively guilty of this too) of overstating how good we are when we are good but not that good... bigging up players and tactics into something more than they are.
